One of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. We arrived within the official check-in time, but the host was not present. Instead, we found the doors locked and only a letter addressed to us on the main entrance. The letter instructed us to contact the host via WhatsApp and stated that we would only receive the door access code after paying an additional USD 80 “cleaning fee,” which was not disclosed anywhere in the Booking.com listing or during the booking process. As we were standing in front of a closed property with no alternative accommodation, we were effectively forced to pay the fee. The situation was handled in a very unprofessional manner. The host later refused to take responsibility and claimed that Booking.com was at fault, telling us to contact them ourselves to obtain a refund. Beyond this, the accommodation did not match the advertised description. The promised breakfast essentially did not exist—there was only a small selection of snacks and fruits in the kitchen. The bathroom had rusty screws, dirt, and spider webs on the ceiling. Being denied access to the accommodation unless an undisclosed fee is paid is completely unacceptable. This stay caused significant stress and frustration and fell far below any reasonable standard of hospitality. I would strongly advise future guests to be cautious.

The in Inn provided a quiet and comfortable stay. The rooms are very spacious, with hardwood floors, a clean bathroom, and a private deck overlooking the forest. The property is well maintained and peaceful, with easy on-site parking. Outside every window you are surrounded by trees and the birds chirping and rain makes it very peaceful and relaxing. Wi-Fi worked well, the beds were comfortable, and everything was clean. The Inn also includes a spacious shared kitchen and complimentary coffee, snacks, fruits. The location is excellent — less than 5 minutes drive to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village restaurants, gas, and general stores, yet far enough from the road to avoid noise. The hosts were responsive, check-in was simple, and communication was clear. The cleaning fee was clearly mentioned on the portal prior to booking, so it's NOT a hidden fee unlike some reviews say. Overall, an excellent value for the area and highly recommended for anyone visiting the National Park.
