BEWARE YOU DONT GET THE ROOM YOU BOOK! We booked a balcony room online for one night because we were attending a concert across the street at the AA center. The only reason we booked this hotel was bc it offered balcony rooms and it was close to the venue. When we checked in we were told that the balcony room I booked was unavailable and that we had been “upgraded” to a suite.(Note: They said balcony rooms were “unavailable” but we saw many guests standing on their balcony at the W Dallas while we were waiting in line to enter our concert across the street). I asked does the suite have a balcony because that’s what we wanted because that’s what we booked, the manager said no and said he could add 5000 marriot points to my loyalty account for the inconvenience. He seemed confused as to why we weren’t happy with his resolution of offering us loyalty points we never use or care about and giving us a different room that was nothing special and hardly worthy of being called a “suite.” If I’d had known the balcony rooms weren’t available I would have booked elsewhere but the W Dallas took my choice away and it made my concert weekend getaway unpleasant and a little disappointing.

I recently came across an account shared online regarding an alleged interaction at the W Dallas Victory involving a member of the valet staff. According to what was described, the individual felt profiled and treated in a way that made them uncomfortable. While I was not personally present, the account raised concerns about professionalism and guest experience standards. Front-facing staff, particularly valet attendants, are often the first point of contact at a hotel of this calibre. Their conduct sets the tone for everything that follows. If the incident occurred as described, it reflects poorly on the standards expected from a luxury brand. I hope management takes the matter seriously and ensures all staff are properly trained in professionalism, respect, and inclusivity. Reputation is built on consistency. I trust the hotel will address any gaps appropriately.

I appreciated the service. They did go out of there way to leave a birthday bottle of prosecco in the room. However I felt the property did not live up to the W standards. One working elevator. Rooms that felt tired, subpar bathroom, Unavailable menu items at breakfast, and a Closed skydeck. The balcony, proximity to the American Airlines Center, and the gift were the saving graces of our stay. If location does not matter you may want to consider a different property. I’d give the property 3 stars for this stay, but let’s face it a W should be a 4.5 out of 5 all day.
