Washington Square Hotel

Feels like a boutique hotel. Love the handmade tiles you can find just about everywhere. FANTASTIC shower! Cannot beat the location at the NE corner of the park.

Action nearby Quiet neighborhood Small rooms but spacious for NYC The staff was very friendly, and they offer breakfast for free. Although it's very basic, it saves you a few dollars. It consists of boiled eggs, bagels, bread, coffee, bananas, and yogurt—very basic and the same every day, but it's actually great for starting the morning. In the lobby or lounge, you can find water and coffee seemingly all day, although once I went down at night and the lounge was already closed, and another day I didn't go down that late, but the coffee was cold. The hotel is old, and I think the price is just because of the area it's in, but it's very clean.

My husband and I stayed here for six nights from late November 2025. We stayed in a twin room. Our main purpose for the trip was to revisit Bob Dylan's youth in Greenwich Village, which we had seen in a movie, and this hotel was one of our choices. ★Good Points: - The location is undeniably great. Right in the heart of Greenwich Village. You can walk to famous live music venues. It's safe at night, too. Supermarkets, drugstores, and restaurants are all within walking distance. The subway is nearby, making it easy to get anywhere. You can easily and affordably get to JFK Airport without having to transfer. - The building is packed with innovation. The front desk, guest rooms, and bathrooms have all been beautifully renovated. There are multiple elevators. - Breakfast is included. A delicious, all-you-can-eat bagel breakfast, typical of New York, is included in the room rate. - There's a lounge. You can enjoy coffee, tea, and water on the comfortable sofas at the back of the first floor. We bought some pizza and ate it there. ☆Bad Points: - The room is a bit small. It was barely possible to unpack two suitcases, and the wardrobe wasn't big enough for two people. The room amenities were limited. There was no refrigerator, coffee maker, or kettle. There were only a few disposable plastic cups. A hair dryer and iron were provided. The air conditioning was tricky. The heating was too strong, so I had to open the windows to adjust it. I guess that's unavoidable considering the building is old. There are so many things to mention, but this is a recommended hotel, steeped in tradition and legend, at a reasonable price for New York.
