⸻ I have always liked staying at this hotel. I stayed there once around two months ago. However, recently I discovered that my home has bed bugs. For a long time, I didn’t know where they came from. Until the last time I stayed at this hotel again, I actually found bed bugs on the bed in the hotel room. I reported this situation to the front desk, and they changed my room from the fifth floor to the first floor. Now the bed bug problem at my home has been spreading for almost two months. No matter what I do, I can’t completely get rid of them, and it’s extremely distressing. What makes me feel even more regretful is that I gave this hotel a 10 out of 10 rating on Booking.com. I feel very upset and frustrated about it now.

Upd: Response to the hotel: I am appalled by this attempt to distort the facts. Service Quality vs. Presence: You claim all services were "provided," but ignore the fact that they were of poor quality and had to be "fought for" (like the dinner). Providing a service is not the same as providing it according to 4-star standards. Room Condition: I am attaching the photo of the broken handle. Your claim that an inspection found "no issues" is a direct lie. While I cannot photograph the cold draft or the street noise, numerous other reviews for your hotel confirm these identical problems. Communication: My call logs and unanswered emails were provided to you privately. To ignore this evidence and claim the reception is "always available" is dishonest. SPA & Ethics: Your administrator’s "professional call" ended with the phrase "Okay, honey, I’ll call you back later" (in Russian: "давай, кися, перезвоню"). This is not a professional obligation; it is a lack of elementary culture and respect. Furthermore, the visible lack of cleanliness in the pool area (slimy surfaces) only adds to the disappointment. Registration: The second guest’s ID was provided on-site. The issue was not the law, but the unprofessional manner of your staff. I have no desire to continue this discussion. Offering a "discount" is just a sales pitch to get more money for your mistakes. My review stands as a final warning to others _____________________ As a hospitality professional with 15 years of experience in hotels and restaurants, I rarely write negative reviews. However, my experience at Wellton Riga was far below any acceptable 4-star European standard. We chose this hotel for our anniversary, but it turned into a series of service failures. Pros: A decent breakfast and prompt room service (they brought an extra blanket quickly because the room was freezing). Cons: Total Communication Failure: The hotel ignored my calls and emails for 2 days. I only received a reply 7 hours after sending it—exactly when I was already standing at the reception desk. Violation of Public Offer: We were told at 18:00 that the restaurant (where we had a pre-paid dinner package) might close early due to "low occupancy." A guest should never have to "fight" for services they have already paid for. Technical Issues: Broken light switches, a broken bathroom door handle, and a severe draft from the window that made the room uncomfortably cold. The soundproofing is also non-existent. Unprofessional Staff: The SPA receptionist did not even interrupt her personal phone call to greet us. The front desk staff was dismissive and rude during check-in. Final Note: After filing a formal complaint, management responded with a template apology, offering a "discount for the next stay." Offering a guest the "opportunity" to spend more money after ruining their special occasion is a textbook example of poor service recovery. The hotel has lost a loyal guest who previously visited their SPA weekly and was a regular guest at the restaurants across entire hotel chain. I do not recommend this establishment.
