Great place to stay if you're visiting Amsterdam! Near public transportation but also walking distance for Amsterdam center while located in a safe neighborhood next to University! Room is spacious with equipped kitchen, couch, dining table and comfy bed.

We had a reservation at The Wittenberg by Cove for 4–13 March, but unfortunately our flights were cancelled last minute due to the current war situation affecting air travel in the Middle East. This made it impossible for us to travel to Amsterdam. We informed the hotel immediately and explained the situation. Since the cancellation was clearly caused by extraordinary circumstances outside the guest’s control, we expected a reasonable and flexible response. Unfortunately, the hotel refused to cancel the reservation. The only option offered was to move the stay to alternative dates with significantly higher prices and strict deadlines. In practice, this meant paying substantially more for the same stay while still facing uncertainty around travel. What disappointed us most was not simply the policy itself, but the lack of flexibility in a situation involving international flight cancellations due to geopolitical conflict. Hospitality brands often emphasize guest care and understanding, but situations like this are when those values are truly demonstrated. The overall response made it feel as though protecting revenue was prioritized over showing understanding and empathy toward guests affected by an unexpected war-related travel disruption. It is very important for anyone who is considering to stay with this brand to know how they treat their customers while there is an unexpected war situation going on. People should be aware that even something as serious as a war-related flight cancellation, you will still be expected to pay the full price. In our case we had to pay the full price. Very disappointing experience. Ultimately, people want to support brands that act responsibly and show empathy & compassion when unexpected global events affect their guests. Situations like this reveal which companies truly stand by those values.
