Wyndham Garden Ankeny/Des Moines

When I called, I reserved the room and the person I spoke to on the phone was extremely nice and respectful, I am requested a poolside room because I explained we were getting a room for my kiddos bday since we were having a party for him, he said no problem. The day before when I got the text to precheck in I called and asked about early check in policy and the person told me, so then further doing the precheck in I did early check in and I just called later to double check they got it. The person was extremely rude to me and his response was "I already spoke to you once today, didn't I?" I explained the first time I just had questions, then later I was just confirming that it went through, then when I showed up the room, I was given was the 2nd floor all the way at the end. I was like no I specifically asked for a pool side and who I spoke to when I reserved the room said not a problem. The guy at the counter was extremely rude and was like you didn't ask me yesterday when you kept calling (I only called the 2 times) and I was like no because when I reserved it I confirmed with that gentlemen like 3 times before I hung up so I didn't think I needed to confirm for a 5th. and his response was "well are you with the wrestlers because they have the poolside's" I am not sure why it mattered or not when I called specify and asked for it a week and a half before! he then moved me and said it wasn't pool side, but it was close, but the room ended up being poolside, so I was thankful. when we walked into the hotel room, it had a pretty fowl Oder that we couldn't figure out where it was coming from. there was trash under the bed, I even returned some key cards from the people before us. the pool area was extremely cold; the water was so cold my kids couldn't even play or enjoy themself because being in the water 5mines their lips were extremely blue/purple. It was extremely slick to where my kiddo completely gashed their leg on the floor, and it just was a not good experience. in the morning my son wanted to try to swim before we left and when we were in there pool area the guy who was vacuuming the floors was walking around bad mouthing so many of the guest and just being a complete jerk, we were in the pool right as it opened and I could hear him mumbling by me how we don't follow rules and don't know how to read signs even though the pool said it was open. I will defiantly not be back and will not recommend anyone to this place.

The hotel is amazing the breakfast and the staff are really cool like staying here
