It's one of the best-rated and most affordable hotels for visiting NYC if you don't want to pay the astronomical prices of the Big Apple. The rooms are comfortable, there's a very good parking area, and the service is acceptable.

Our stay at Wyndham Garden North Bergen was extremely disappointing and poorly managed from start to finish. We paid over $1,00 for a five-night stay and experienced significant issues for three consecutive days, all of which were avoidable and required repeated trips to the front desk just to get basic service. On arrival, our shower was completely non-functional. After a technician confirmed it was not a simple fix, we needed to switch rooms. The replacement room was not properly prepared—none of the shower dispensers were filled. Despite contacting the front desk and explicitly requesting housekeeping with the necessary products, it took an unreasonable amount of time for anyone to arrive, and when they did, they only filled one dispenser and did not have shampoo or conditioner available. To make matters worse, we specifically requested housekeeping service (which this hotel claims is “by request”) and were assured it would be handled while we were out for the day. When we returned hours later, it was clear no one had been to the room at all. This pattern of being told issues were “taken care of” when they clearly were not continued throughout our stay. We escalated our concerns to hotel management and were ultimately offered a $50 refund for three days of disruption, room changes, lack of basic amenities, and repeated failures in communication and follow-through. When we responded explaining how inadequate and insulting this offer was, we never received a response at all. This hotel demonstrated a complete lack of accountability, poor internal communication, and disregard for guest experience—especially disappointing given the price point and brand expectations. We are recurring hotel guests and expected far better. We strongly caution others to consider alternative accommodations if they value basic functionality, cleanliness, and professional customer service.
