Wyndham Newport Hotel

This hotel has all the charm of a cinder block, but none of the production value. The folks running the place are perfectly nice, but this is the cheapest constructed hotel I've ever been in. The walls are paper thin, the flooring is plastic, the showers are awful. It's the most shoddily constructed hotel I've ever been in that was supposedly a decent hotel. Yes, it has views of the bay. But so does the deer Island water treatment facility. And the latter probably has better showers.

We love this hotel! Great price off season and always clean. We love swimming in the pool. Very family friendly too!

Rooms are decently sized overall, but needs better lighting. A lot of light bulbs were out and furniture had a lot of wear and tear. The two king beds have an odd, oversized square shape to them. The platform base to the mattress is a good 3 inches too big on all sides. Walking in the center area between the two beds, you can easily hit your shin on the edge corner of the bed frames. They put foam pads on the corners, but of course, their was one foam pad missing, which caused me to hit my leg numerous times. My wife had to block the corner of the extra large bed frame with a pillow. They should of had a replacement foam piece installed prior to our visit. The walls are paper thin. I heard my wife opening a can of coke two doors down while walking down the hall. The people next to us one night were coming back from a wedding. At 1 AM. Absolutely drunk. That was difficult trying to sleep through. I complained by messaging the front desk, which they encouraged with any issues, but they never responded to that specific message. My previous messages for other requests/issues were answered an hour or so later. Turns out they did get my message though, because I had a nice refund for the noise complaint we experienced that night. I wish they would have made me aware and not for me to find out when I got home and checking the receipt online. I was left disappointed thinking nothing was being done. The beds in the two king room are either very hard or super soft. One is a pillow top with a few inches of padding while the other bed is not padded. All in the same room. Weird that they are not the same bed. Johnny's restaurant, I would only dine at during the warm season and sitting outside. Winter seasons might be a really bad experience, especially for Valentine's Day. Took one solid hour just to get our waitress to take our order. The housekeeping was solid and did a decent job. We got extra towels on request and brand new soaps, etc. The shower is odd, and has no door to close which causes water to leak everywhere massively on the floor, even with towels. Shuttle was a hit or miss and limited hours during the winter. All in all, I might stay here again, just not rushing back. Especially difficult to recommend with the thin walls, odd room layout, and inconsistent quality beds. The small refund in all honestly is the main reason I would consider coming back.
