While the staff were very kind and polite, the property itself felt quite run-down and not as clean as expected for the price. Unfortunately, the experience did not match what we were hoping for in a traditional ryokan stay. There are several other accommodations in the area that appear to offer better value for money at a lower price point. Breakfast is served strictly at 8:00 am and cannot be adjusted, even upon request. Checkout is at 10:00 am, and when we asked whether a short 30-minute late checkout would be possible so we could wait for our train, the request was declined. While I understand that policies need to be followed, a bit of flexibility would have been appreciated considering the cost of the stay. Overall, this was not the right fit for us, and I would personally choose a different option next time.

It's within walking distance from Hakone-Yumoto Station. A small car might be preferable (lol). It's a retro wooden inn. The atmosphere and basic cuisine are good, but it's a Japanese inn, and everything from reception to waiters is Asian. Wouldn't an international hotel like the Marriott be better? It's unfortunate that this has prompted me to switch from an inn to a hotel.

We were initially worried about vegetarian accommodations, but we informed the hotel in advance of it and they were happy to help accommodate us. They prepared a delicious vegetarian Kaiseki for dinner and breakfast for us. The ryokan was charming, the rooms beautiful, and the onsen was heavenly. We would definitely come back here. Thank you for the wonderful stay, arigatou gozaimasu!
