YANTARASRI RESORT

The truth is, it's a charming place and very close to a rather special area of the city. I think this is a very good choice if you're visiting.

If you want peace and quiet, don't choose this place. The planes taking off and landing are noisy enough, but I endured it for three days straight. And then there were birds chirping incessantly at night, keeping me up all night. The hotel has no elevator! Everything has to be carried in and out manually.

Haaaa sigh ~ As a foreigner, who is deeply interested in Thailand and operating with the most respect I can bring to each interaction .. Given that I am a foreigner who *Currently* speaks very little Thai, I greet you in the aforementioned light. Sāwàtdēe kráb to yee whom is reading this, you are reading this for a reason; • Either to validate/review an experience OR • To inform your decision making process on whether to stay here or elsewhere. ~~ TLDR || Short and simple answer: Do not, spend the extra money and stay elsewhere. Out of town & in the mountains - Preferred. ~~ Long and detailed .. Read on: Yantarasri, Yantarasri, Yantarasri .. In principle, an incredible idea. An inner forest sanctuary located safely and secludedly near the heart of Chiang Mai and the Lanna Kingdom of Old. In build, actuality and experience: The rooms are not sound proof AT ALL, (My partner and I were kept up both nights {To about midnight} during our stay there) I was t h i s close to bringing it up with the management .. However, I didn't because when my partner and I showed up 1 day early to confirm the bookings for our group, I was made fun of and condescended by the 2 members at reception (A man and a woman) I asked a simple question, in addition to the bookings conversation about driving in Thailand as it was my first time and wanted to get more informed than I was, as to drive in the safest manner. They proceeded to laugh at my partner and I (In front of our faces (Very very bad gam {karma}) and said something akin to, "Oh white boy just show up and expect us to give him something." (As in information) This ↑ paired with the fact our room smelled like shit (Literally) from poor bathroom plumbing function, to HIGHLY chlorinated water, to zero sound proofing, to staff that was physically unable to move our luggage up the stairs, (Good thing I'm capable, otherwise IDK) to the fact that their parking is nill, and their SPECIFIC parking garage for the resort, you are unable to even get into the resort and have to go all the way around which negates the point to even park your car there. ~~~~ Pros: +Complimentary breakfast +Great location +Not terribly expensive +Their architecture is a win +Their outdoor area is a vibe However, if you are in it for anything more than breakfast and pool time... I'd advise elsewhere. We will not be staying here again. Main gripe is with the hotel staff, tragic behavior for 'customer service staff' left a super bad taste in the mouth. Make your own judgements and if you do choose to book there, I hope your experience is not bad. K'M'AWA
