From the moment I arrived, the check-in process was extremely difficult. The gentleman assisting me informed me that without a credit card he could not allow room charges and that I would need to pay as I went. I explained that I could authorize a $2,000 charge on my debit card, and if I exceeded that amount we could add additional funds. He then told me that any unused amount would take two weeks to be returned. I informed him that this was acceptable, yet he still refused to charge my card, forcing me to navigate payments throughout my stay instead of allowing a simple pre-authorization. Later that night, I experienced a far more urgent and distressing situation. My daughter developed sudden ear pain and began screaming and crying uncontrollably. I contacted the concierge through WhatsApp (all screenshots attached for verification) and asked whether there was a doctor onsite. I was told no, but I was informed that they could provide children’s pain medication and earache medicine. While my daughter continued crying in pain and I was alone with both of my young children, I was then told that unless I had cash, they could not give me the medicine—even though it was already available. I cannot express how helpless and frightened I felt sitting in a hotel room, holding my three-year-old son and four-year-old daughter, with no way to help her because your staff refused to provide basic medication due to a cash-only requirement. This was completely unacceptable. At check-in, I also asked to be notified about discounted room upgrade options, as was done for me during my previous stay. I explained that if something was available, I would extend my stay by two additional days. No one ever followed up with me. Additionally, shortly after checking in—after a full day of traveling alone with two young children—we went down to the pool before 5:00 p.m. The pool staff repeatedly avoided us and did not take our order, so we walked down to the beach. When we arrived, the beach area was completely shut down. Cushions had been removed from all furniture, and staff stood near the bar without acknowledging guests. One of the primary reasons I stay at high-end hotels such as Ritz-Carlton properties is the service. During my last visit to Zadún, I had an outstanding experience. This time, however, the service was inconsistent, unhelpful, and at times put me in an impossible position—especially when it came to my daughter’s urgent medical need. I am requesting: 1. A clear explanation of why these issues occurred. 2. Clarification of your policies regarding payment methods, medical assistance, and guest support during emergencies. 3. A response regarding the lack of follow-up on room upgrade options. 4. Assurance that these situations will be addressed to prevent them from happening to any other family. All WhatsApp messages and screenshots documenting these issues are attached for your review.

Zudun, A Ritz‑Carlton Reserve, delivered an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The property’s design is both luxurious and tranquil — our room was beautifully appointed, immaculately maintained, and felt like a private sanctuary. The pool areas are stunning, carefully landscaped, and offer both relaxation and lively service when desired. The dining across the resort was consistently excellent — creative menus, superb execution, and thoughtful presentation. Equis, El Barrio, Humo and Candil Bar each offered memorable meals and service. Equally impressive was the breadth and professionalism of the staff: everyone we encountered, from the front desk team to the gardeners, contributed to a seamless stay. Several team members deserve special recognition for making our visit exceptional: Stephanie and Genesis, our wonderful Tosoani who guided us with warmth and expertise; Adan at Equis; Margarita at El Barrio; Jared (waiter) and Adriana (hostess) at Humo; David behind the bar and serving at Candil; and Angel, Hector and Leonardo attending the pool. Each demonstrated attentiveness, genuine hospitality, and a clear pride in their work. Overall, Zudun’s combination of outstanding accommodations, beautiful grounds, exceptional food, and a consistently attentive team make it a standout destination. I highly recommend this property and look forward to returning.
