THIS WAS OUR SECOND TOUR WITH DISCOVERY. THE TOUR GUIDE WAS EXCELLENT AS SHE TRACED THE HERITAGE OF THE AMISH PEOPLE FROM THEIR ROOTS TO THE MODERN DAY. I LIKED THE FACT THAT WE HAD TIME TO STOP A SEVERAL VENUES AND SEE THE LIFESTYLE OF THE AMISH FIRST-HAND. IT WAS A FAST 90 MINUTES AND WE ENJOYED EACH MINUTE.

I went on the Amish Experience with 3 friends and we had a great time. We learned a lot from our Guide, Kendra, who was fabulous! She shared lots of history of the Amish and Mennonites, and about their presence as snowbirds in Sarasota. I especially liked her stories of growing up in that culture, and her appreciation of the warmth and caring in the community. We visited the Carlyle Hotel, Der Dutchman restaurant, and Miller's Amish furniture. We got to see women quilting in the Carlyle, and also in a quilting shop. Kendra knew everyone at each stop showing the closeness of the Amish community. We will come back on our own to visit this warm and welcoming part of Sarasota. We will also do other tours from Discover Sarasota.

Loved our tour! Kendra was very knowledgeable with heartfelt stories to share! We really learned a lot & enjoyed the tour immensely.

The subject was fascinating as were the places we visited. The downside: our tour guide, although very enthusiastic, talked non-stop and much of what she spoke of were personal anecdotes that had nothing to do with the Amish (a long story about how she and her spouse spent the night at the Carlisle motel on opening night--didn't need to hear that). She didn't leave enough time or oxygen for participants to ask questions.

Excellent Tour Kendra does a Excellent job explaining the Amish Mennonite experience in Sarasota. I would highly recommend this tour It took me 5 years living in Sarasota to get the insight explaining the Amish community

We certainly learned so much about the Amish/Mennonite culture and way of life. Best part was Kendra’s personal experiences that she shared. It was expensive for the short tour that included stops at the hotel lobby, Quilt shop and bakery that you can do on your own for free, but it was an enjoyable and educational morning.
