The views are amazing, looking at the Mont and from the Mont. You can easily spend a day or two looking around in the castle, the abbey, the medieval streets, bars and restaurants. Hotels and eating places are on the expensive side. Bets to combine with nearby Normandy places of interest like D-day landing beaches and Bayeaux tapestry

An unforgettable experience! Truly magical walking through this enchanted island village. You must go and marvel at this extraordinary landmark.

It was just beautiful. Wear good shoes & check the weather forecast & dress appropriately. It goes uphill as soon as you enter and the stairs to the Abby are plenty. I am not going to lie: it is a workout, but totally worse it. Take the time to take also in the spiritual aspect of the Abby. And avoid weekends. Shuttlebus is free every 10 min.

Beautiful castle but as expected, the crowds were unbelievable. The ticket collector was very kind. Inadequate bathroom facilities that could not meet the demands of the crowd.

Good - Magnificent when first sighted from the road, and even more so as you approach from the wooden walkway. Know that you can wait for a shuttle bus to take you there, but we walked from parking lot 7. Bad - the crowds when you first get to the Abbey - congested as you ass all the crepe shops to fight your way to the Abbey entrance. The Abbey itself is not impressive - a bunch of cold, empty rooms. 13 euros to see this? Ugly - one bathroom as you enter - one Euro for the pleasure. Better go before you walk further since it’s your last chance. We were there 3 hours and when we left were charged 17 Euros for parking - seriously? Conclusion - don’t bother with the Abbey, it’s not worth it. Walk out, go up the ramparts, enjoy the view, grab an overpriced crepe and hightail it out. We walked there and back and it clocked in at 6.5 miles with lots of steps. So beware.

Did our research and the conclusion was: avoid this during busy hours and high season. And the reviews were right, cause already on a somewhat sunny day in April you could notice the crowds gathering. Book your tickets online the lines for the abbey are ridiculous. We got in in 5 minutes

Spectacular place to visit & stay overnight — not to be missed! The hotel Auberge St. Pierre was excellent — tasteful decor, very clean & well-kept, plus centrically located.

Visiting the abbey was great experience although very challenging for a 74 year old. The hotel Auberge St Pierre was very nice.

I love this place and this was my third visit. It is a beautiful place and well worth a visit. Unlike previous visits this one was spoilt by overcrowding. (Week day out of season). The village area was stacked like a crowd at a concert. The kind of crowd where it is hard to stop walking. Luckily we had pre-booked our tickets to get into the abbey. We walked past a queue of hundreds of people all the way up the steps waiting to get in. You can walk to the island - takes 45 minutes to an hour - or get a free shuttle. The queue to get on the shuttle stretched for about 200 yards. No idea how long people must have been waiting but I would estimate an hour. We walked but if you have young children or have limited mobility be prepared for a very long wait to get back to your transport. If you drive be prepared for the charges. We walked to the island, grabbed a sandwich, did a guided tour of the abbey and walked back. So pretty much the minimum visit time of about 4 hours. The parking charge was 17 Euros!

To avoid the crowds we were advised to go early, and managed to arrive around midday. It was crowded on the climb up, and pretty well packed passing us as we were descending. It's a wonderful inspiration just to imagine so many people of old going there to feel closer to God as they walked those halls and walls. The views are expansive and exhilarating even though this was not a high-tide day.
