The Museum was really good but could be bigger and have more in it. The walking tour was also good however we didnt realise that only some of the scenes were filmed here as it really does not explain that when you are reading about it, the impression given is that the sets will be in situ for the tour, but as this is a place where companies use the buildings as offices it really is just very reliant on photo stills from the series and standing outside buildings. It was good but felt a little cheated that I paid £40.00 basically to look at some stills, for the museum which we were in for around 10 minutes and a guide to show me buildings that I could have seen by walking around the dockyard on my own. I would recommend but only if the price was lower or there was more actual call the midwife stuff.

This was a very interesting tour, learnt a lot of the behind the scenes tricks, Dawn was an amusing guide and filled us full of amazing facts. Well worth the visit plus the entry to the dockyard is included.

This was a wonderful experience touring the place where so many famous scenes of Call the Midwife were filmed. Our tour guide Irene was excellent and very knowledgeable. I really appreciated that she had a photo book of scenes from the show for each of the locations she was pointing out and giving an overview on. That was really helpful. We also toured the dockyard museum before the tour which was outstanding. Overall, great experience! We also got to see many of the props, clothes, and sets that have been used on the show. I thought we had booked the 90 minute tour but we only got the 60 minute one for whatever reason. Otherwise though, great time!

Very informative and a lovely setting. The tour guide made it feel very real, and a lovely tribute as she was dressed as a nurse

It was a fantastic tour. Our retired nurse was a huge fan, and it showed she knew a lot about the location. Before or after your tour, there is so much to see at the dockside for all ages, so plan a whole day!! You are walked to multiple filming locations, and any places with red-painted boxes are used in various films. They fill you in on so much history of not only the show but also the area you won't be disappointed.

Seeing the streets was wonderful. The sets and props brought it to life. The guide was really knowledgeable and gave away lots of tricks and secrets. It could have been set up with the washing lines or doors in place. Or maybe allowed to pose behind the counters of the sets or at the dinner table.

I have done this tour for the second time and if you are a fan of the programme it is highly recommended. The Guide was amazing and so knowledgeable. She was also lots of fun! You get to see the Historic Dockyard in a new light as a film set and it is so enjoyable to link the locations to the series. You also get to see some hidden corners of the Dockyard and you get an insight into the processes of filming on location. There is a fair bit of walking, some of it on uneven ground and it is really an adult oriented tour. You need to allow time to do the tour and see the Dockyard as that is included in the price. The tour takes 90 minutes. Included partway through the tour is a short visit to the little museum full of props from the programme, including a set up of both of the Buckle's shops, the dining room from Nonnatus House and costumes - with Trixie's wedding dress! The museum is interesting in it's own right as a nostalgic piece of popular history with all kinds of household goods and toys from the 60s and 70s that were used in the programme. You don't get very long in there though as it is midway through the tour. Our group was also quite big so everyone was trying to see things and get pictures before we had to leave and so it felt a bit crowded and a but rushed. It would be nicer to have that part at the end of the tour with a bit longer to spend in there and take pictures. I think that's something that the management could look into. I understand that they have to supervise the museum but they could have regular staff in there, as they do at the other parts of the Dockyard. This would surely also help the Call The Midwife (CTMW) Guides as instead of waiting for the group in the middle of the tour, they could leave everyone in the museum at the end of the tour for say, 30 minutes, allowing people to take their time and crowds to naturally thin out. Alternatively, they could leave it open all day with a Dockyard member of staff present, but only allow entry to people with the CTMW tour tickets. I would be interested to know the management's views on this idea. The Museum is only opened as part of the Official CTMW tour you see, so you can't go back a view it in your own time and it is not open to people not participating in the CTMW tour. So the little slot in the middle of the tour is your only chance to see it, which is a shame given the price of the tour tickets. Which brings me to the cost. I did the tour almost exactly a year ago to the day and it cost £27. (April 2023). Shortly after my visit it went up to £35 (May 2023). This year it costs £40. That is one heck of a hike! I'm not sure what the justification is for this. There are a few small additions to the museum, but as I said, you don't get long to look at them. The ticket, as with last year, allows you access to the whole Dockyard Museum for the day but only for the day. Now, an annual ticket to the Dockyard is (I think) £28, so £40 seems relatively a lot for one day plus tour? I know the cost of everything has gone up and you'd expect a small rise, but £13 does not seem justified. And what if you already have the annual ticket to the Historic Dockyard? Do you get a reduced price to join the CTMW tour? I couldn't see anything about this on the website. Many other attractions do this. My other point (which kind of relates to the price and the experience) was that our group felt quite big. Someone told me - and I have no idea if this is truly the case - that they were doing less tours per day but with bigger groups. It was a fantastic day. I really enjoyed it. Sadly it will be my last tour as the price puts it firmly in a 'luxury' category, but if you love the programme it is worth doing. If you are tempted to take a spouse/partner/friend who doesn't watch the programme, leave them in the cafe or let them wander the Dockyard while you do the tour. They probably won't find it interesting as it does relate directly to the episodes.
