We were to be picked up at hotel 9:00 AM but were NOT - rescheduled for noon and were again NOT - no phone call no email!!! Very disappointed to not get to see Versailles on this bucket list trip - at age 80 will not make it to Paris again

Dodgy website. Driver did not turn up for private car to Versailles. Very disappointed, as only day in Paris to visit. Shame trip advisor for connecting with viator.

I have had this tour booked for MONTHS. I emailed the tour operator directly and advised them of where I was staying in Paris, and I was told to be ready to be collected at my hotel at 9am on the day of the tour. I was in the lobby at 8:45am, and by 9.15am I had my hotel ringing the company asking where they were. I was told "because you booked so far in advance, we forgot to put you on the run sheet for today so the tour has already left and we won't be coming to get you" I was BEYOND annoyed. I had paid over $250 Australian Dollars for this tour, and I was left sitting in the hotel because someone couldn't do the ONE thing their job requires of them. I was forced to spend more money to get on another tour (with another operator) and I could only get a half day tour which isn't enough time, and all I got from this operator was the refund (which I was entitled to) and a half hearted "sorry" through the hotel receptionist

If you are a history buff, you would appreciate this palace and hearing how things were run back in the day. The gardens are BEAUTIFUL, you could get lost in the labyrinth. I think everything is very well preserved. One tip would be to go really early or later in high season as the queues can get really long. I would say really early in the morning or from 2pm, the place closes at 6pm so you would need enough time to look around. Getting there is quite straight forward if you go with public tansport. It is a 10 minute walk from the train station.

Le château de Versailles est évidemment de toute beauté, si l'on remet en perspective le décor, tout de dorures et de démesure. De nombreux points pourraient en rendre la visite plus agréable. Nous avons été surpris par la difficulté à trouver des informations claires de manière rapide pour organiser notre visite. Il nous a fallu en tout cas une heure pour arriver à comprendre ce qu'il était possible de faire, à quel prix et quel jour. Nous avons d'ailleurs été confrontés à des infos contradictoires concernant les enfants de moins de 18 ans car la visite du château est gratuite pour eux tandis que l'audioguide ne l'est pas (on doit payer 4 euros par enfant pour l'audioguide alors que le site internet mentionne noir sur blanc le contraire) : ce problème est connu depuis plusieurs semaines mais personne n'a mis le site internet à jour et autant vous dire que nous n'avons obtenu aucun remboursement. Autre problème, la gigantesque file d'attente (environ 300m, en plein soleil évidemment) alors que nous avons tous acheté les billets en ligne pour un créneau donné... C'est non seulement pénible mais en plus cela enlève du temps de visite. Pour le créneau de 15h, nous avons commencé notre visite à 15h35 ! A l'intérieur du château, les informations sont lacunaires (dans l'audioguide et sur les panneaux), aucun plan de visite n'est distribué donc à aucun moment nous ne savons quelle portion de la visite nous avons effectuée. Nous avons donc passé trop de temps sur le début et pas assez sur la fin, d'autant que le personnel nous chasse presque des salles avant 18h pour s'assurer qu'à 18h30 précises plus personne n'est au sein du château, même aux toilettes de la sortie (queue interminable, plusieurs WC condamnés car en train d'être nettoyés avant la fermeture...). Par hasard nous avons appris que l'accès à certaines salles (dont la fameuse galerie des batailles !) était terminé à 17h45, sinon nous aurions loupé une partie intéressante. A l'intérieur du château, le monde et le bruit sont terribles, accentués par une chaleur moite fort désagréable (clim seulement dans la salle du sacre). On se croirait dans le RER en heure de pointe, un flot ininterrompu de touristes passant à vive allure à travers le château sans même toujours regarder les salles. Surprenant... Pour les parties extérieures, sachez que les jardins sont ouverts gratuitement en été de 19h à 20h30 (sans aucun jet d'eau et sans possibilité d'accéder à certains des bosquets les plus connus). Les jardins ne présentent de toute façon que peu d'intérêt, de grandes allées coupées au cordeau, des grillages en bois en piteux état, ça manque franchement de charme. Seule la partie supérieure, à l'arrière du château, est fleurie et c'est également un charmant belvédère sur le bassin des Suisses. En tout cas nous étions contents de ne pas avoir dépensé plus pour cette partie. Peut-être que les grandes eaux apportent un plus ? Dans l'ensemble donc un bilan un peu mitigé pour un château aussi fameux, mais l'on retiendra les magnifiques chapelle et galeries des glaces et des batailles.

Hier soir, j’ai fait une visite virtuelle au château de Versailles et j’étais choqué de la taille du lieu. Il y a beaucoup de pièces comme la galerie des glaces, la chambre du roi, la chambre de la reine, etc., mais la pièce qui m’a le plus impacté est le salon de Nobles; les couleurs sont assez belles et vraiment uniques. Je suis aussi très surpris des fresques sur le plafond de toutes les pièces. Il n'y avait aucune chambre sans une fresque! Bien que j'ai aimé le château, il était très difficile de se déplacer sur l’écran. Si je pouvais, j’aimerais aller au château de Versailles en personne, car je voudrais avoir l'expérience réelle de l’endroit. Dans une visite virtuelle vous recevez une bonne idée du lieu, mais c’est pas la même chose qu’aller là-bas.

Acheter obligatoirement des billets coupe-file sinon c’est 2h de queue! Ensuite presque plus de mobilier donc un peu décevant surtout quand il y a énormément de monde et que profiter des salles reste impossible, on ne voit plus les glaces dans la salle bien nommée. Par contre les jardins sont magnifiques, accessibles gratuitement, on peut plus paisiblement se promener dans les bois.

Très beau jardin superbement entretenu. Juste un bémol sur les toilettes !! Pour un des sites les plus visités au monde c est une honte de n’avoir que 5 toilettes !
