Your Itinerary

Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park Visitor Center

(Pass by)

The Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park is home to downtown Skagway, the historic Chilkoot Trail, and more! It is a unique national park that spans two states -- Washington (where many gold rushers sailed from) and Alaska (the start of the Gold Rush routes).

Denver Glacier

(Pass by)

Stop by the overlook for the glorious hanging Denver Glacier on your way up to the beautiful Summit Lake. Its surrounded by glorious old growth forest with the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad running in the foreground.

British Columbia

(Pass by)

Two for the price of one! We will travel through a portion of British Columbia from White Pass to Tagish Lake, passing by towering peaks, waterfalls, glaciers, alpine tundra, wildflowers, and glacially-carved turquoise-colored lakes, before continuing into the Yukon Territory.

Bridal Veil Falls

(Pass by)

Watch the cascading waters of Bridal Veil Falls alongside the highway! We will pause for photo opportunities alongside this natural wonder before continuing up to Summit Lake.

Yukon

(Pass by)

Photo opportunities abound in this wild frontier, the Yukon Territory. The Yukon is home to the beautiful First Nations town of Carcross, nestled at the head of Lake Bennett; the incredible Carcross Desert; mountains towering up to 4,000' above with slopes of aspens; and fields of wildflowers.

Fraser Lake

(Pass by)

Pass through the town of Fraser, British Columbia, as we check in with Canadian customs before heading to Check out the White Pass & Yukon Railroad station situated in front of the picturesque Fraser Lake.

Carcross

We will arrive in the Carcross, a self-governing First Nations community at the head of the beautiful and historic Lake Bennett. Carcross was one of the last re-supply opportunities for Klondikers on their way into the heart of the gold rush. Explore the beach-like shores of Lake Bennett, explore the downtown shopping and art center, and get your passport stamped by this independent governing body at the Visitor's Center!

Bove Island

(Pass by)

Thousands of gold rushers passed this island on their way to the Yukon River and untold riches. Bove Island's leeward channel offers protection from the rough waters of Windy Arm. In the late 1890s, thousands of prospectors sailed through Bove Island's waterways here on their way to the Klondike in makeshift boats that they built on the shores of Bennett Lake. Stop here for photos of the Island and Lime Mountain behind.

Carcross Desert

(Pass by)

An anomaly in an alpine world, the Carcross Desert is considered the smallest desert in the world, measuring approximately 1 square mile. Stop by for photo opportunities and a chance to put your feet in this geological anomaly!

It was a lovely drive. I was a small group, just a family of four and two couples. The guide, Laura, was very personable, made the correct number of stops for great photos, and was a gracious photographer. We saw a record number of bears, seven along the way. Carcross is a quaint little town at the end of the tour. The Carcross Desert's sand dunes were surprising in such an unusual location.

Laura, Our guide, was informative and made this trip so enjoyable! We only had 6 adults so the small size was very comfortable in the van.

We loved our guide, Andre! Sweet, sweet young man - he was a highlight. And this tour, in general, was a good way to spend part of a relatively long port of call at Skagway. Would have liked more "off the main highway" stops, maybe less time at the Carcross destination. But the main problem with our experience was the massive screw-up on the (broken) promised lunch & water included. We were a van full of vegetarians - all ordered a special lunch as the website directed. My friend was the only meat eater so she had 10 lunches to pick from. But no water for anyone. Luckily, my friend & I brought our own but the other poor family not allowed to take water from their ship so had none. No lunch or water is acceptable (can plan for that) but not if its promised & then not delivered en route.

Jazz killed it today!! We had a better time than we expected with multiple stops and photo ops. She was fantastic and this tour is highly recommended!!! 10 stars!!!

There were plenty of nice views, but not alot of stops. Very little was discussed before stopping or not stopping at points of interest. Thankfully we saw a bear to make up for a lack luster trip. The guide was good, had they not been this could have been a real snoozefest. Carcross town was mostly closed making it a sad point of interest. The dessert itself was cool.

This excursion sounds good but the word “awful” doesn’t do it justice. Under “what’s included” it mentions a professional guide, nope, no guide though maybe a professional driver. Our guide was a short timer, one summer and she’d be gone so there’s no incentive to learn anything other than the basics of the gold rush. No mention of flora, fauna or geology. Nothing about the enormous lake, Lake Bennet, we drove by and it’s significance to the gold rush; actually nothing about the lakes we passed. The scenery was outstanding and lunch was nice though the addition of condiment packs, mustard, mayo etc would have helped. We’ve been on tours where we hoped the guide would go quiet for a while. That wasn’t a problem with our “guide” as she uttered not one word between Carcross and the Canadian border station which is at least1 hour of silence. Then it was quiet until we entered the U.S. Do yourself a favor book another tour. This one is sure to disappoint

We did not enjoy this tour, it was a race to the tourist trap in the Yukon and then a race back. We did a few super brief stops and breezed by a ton of photo opportunities. Our tour guide said it was his first time doing this tour - and told us "let me know when you want to stop". which was nearly impossible because by the time we saw a pull off we had cruised by it. He told us they took a group of tour guides along the route the day before to learn it. The timing was tight for our return back to the ship to make it in time. I ended up sitting on the wrong side of my van so the majority of my pics are obstructed or have the road and the guardrails in it because we never got to stop and take pics at the most gorgeous stops. Super bummer. He gave some information about the area but nothing super special. I wish we took the train instead and paid for train VIP honestly.

Bad communication: I had to contact them the day before to agree on pickup at the cruise dock and on time. I arrived 15 min before time, no sign (other than the tours of the cruise). I waited 30 minutes then left a message to remind for pickup. An Alaska mountain guides van showed up 30 minutes before but said they were not about that tour. They contacted the agency and they said my tour left, tried to contact me but didn't find me.... They said they will issue a refund. The point is it was too late to book a new tour so the afternoon at Skagway was wasted. Very disappointing and unprofessional. The lack of communication makes them unreliable. Let's hope you'll be picked up if you book them.
