Our guide Keko was very friendly and knowledgeable about the countryside, plants and history of his area of Birth. We were a small group of 6 and Keko went at our Pace, which we was grateful for in the July heat.
The 7km trek, which was part of the pilgrimage route we walked to Monteriggioni was picturesque and interesting. The tour finished with wine tasting in Monteriggioni.

The whole tour was great thanks to our incredible guide Alessia. Her knowledge about Tuscany was amazing and she really made us feel welcomed and excited about every part of the trip. The wine tasting was 10/10👌🏻

Our journey was very enjoyable. The hike is along the pilgrimage trail Via Francigena. It is alongside vineyards, pastures, farms. Some sun, some shade. Our guide, Alissea, (not sure on spelling), was very informative on the area, the flora, and fauna. For instance, we didnt know that on both olive and fig trees, the leaves are edible and can be beneficial, along with the fruit of both trees, with proper preparation.
Bringing a bottle of water, a hat, good walking/trail shoes, and sunscreen on this hike made for an outstanding adventure. Our guide, (plus 4 others), our group of 7 had a very enjoyable half day together.
At the end, the wine tasting from a local winery with accompanying food pairings was also delightful. Delicious and insightful with info about each wine.
The bus tickets provided to take us back to our starting point were perfect in that there were several times available to catch the bus so we could do more exploring of the walled medieval village, Monteriggioni, before heading back.
My husband and I would recommend this excursion!

This hiking tour was amazing and surprising. As we walked the ancient 5 mile road, our guide, Keko, shared deep local knowledge. We learned about the significance of Via Francigena, architecture, Siena neighborhoods and culture, regional herbs and trees, as well as winemaking tradition. We topped off the tour with a visit with a local winemaker. If you are active and can handle a 3-4 hour walk, I highly recommend.

The tour was great. Beautiful landscapes and our Tour guide, Keko (hope the spelling is correct), was amazing. A really sympathetic dude with a lot knowledge about the history and the nature of the region.
