We booked this "small group" excursion & got a message the morning of the tour that we would not be picked up at our accommodations but had to walk down to the bus area by the cable car. We were picked up by a 20 passenger bus and proceeded to the port for passengers and then on to about 5 or 6 hotels for additional passengers until the bus was almost full. We felt this was a "bait and switch" situation and were disappointed. We wanted a small group experience. That said, Marta, the guide & driver, did her best in both English & German to make the tour interesting. The views are really spectacular on the East side of the Island.

Madeira as an island is blessed with natural beauty. However, west side of the island is much more stunning than the east side. If you have been to the west first, you would not enjoy the east as much. If you are trying the east first, you would enjoy.
