This was the perfect start to our Algarve holiday. A truly unique and authentic experience with unique and authentic local people. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and we felt at home from beginning to end. We and the kids all enjoyed the orange picking and jam making and the lunch was wholesome and delicious. Highly recommend for those looking for an alternative to the usual tourist rush and gloss.

A fascinating day out, picking oranges, finding out about how they are grown, and then learning how to make marmalade with the oranges. And all topped off with a delicious informal lunch with the very friendly farmer! Really well organised, and a lovely day. Highly recommended!

We had a tremendous day, the highlight was meeting João and Maria at their farm and listening to them share their stories and knowledge about the farm. It's an exceptionally beautiful place with beautiful people. Our guide Sofia was super friendly and really knowledgeable about the local area and we felt very welcome. After preparing the oranges for the jam making we shared a fantastic lunch prepared by Maria the same morning, her traditional treats and homegrown/homemade produce were exceptional and we feel lucky to have had the opportunity to try them! All of which were vegan and we appreciate the extra effort and thought that went into preparing this for us. The crown goes to the orange jam, we took a jar back with us but only had one night left in Portugal. We demolished the whole jar between us the following morning at breakfast. Never had anything like it before. Chefs kiss. To top the day off we had an impromptu jam on the banjo with João on guitar, the absolute icing on the cake to a very wholesome day out. Thoroughly recommend.

Our host and hostess were warm and welcoming. We started out at a local market and then went on to the farm. Even though it rained off and on throughout the day, our experience was not dampened in any way. We were given a great tour of the historic home, including great conversation and fabulous food, and we made marmalade from the oranges we picked. It just could not have been a better experience! Highly recommended!

A cosy and great experience. Even though april is towards the end of the orange season, we still managed to pick some oranges in Joao's beautiful garden of orange trees. Matteo is a great guide with interesting knowledge about the town (Silves) who holds a well organised day, with equal parts joy and professionalism.

We had a wonderful tour of Silves with our guide Francisco. He was very knowledgeable and kind. We then had a fabulous lunch in a house surrounded by an orange orchard. The couple hosting us there were very cool! We are so happy to have met them and hear about their process. The kids loved picking oranges in their organic orchard. Everything we ate was healthy, organic and sourced local. The marmalade was delicious and we are now eating it on our toast every morning! Highly recommend for an authentic experience!

I booked this tour as a Christmas gift for my mother, who flew over from the United States to spend the holidays with us. Matteo was a friendly informative guide. We loved the organic citrus farm, the rustic farmhouse and getting to know Joao over a delicious breakfast. Afterwards, we had a nice walk in Silves town, visiting some local shops while Matteo got us some Alentejo specialities for our lunch. Our final stop at the secret garden for lunch was relaxing and fun, like spending time with old friends! My mom especially enjoying talking to Jose about his impressive garden and plants. Thank you Matteo and Gloria for great food and organization!

This was a birthday gift from our daughter. Although the citrus season had finished the trip was much better than expected. We visited an organic citrus grove, the owner Joao was really interesting, explaining the ways of organic citrus growing. We had an unexpected breakfast with Joao and his wife, in their tiny farmhouse which is over 200 years old. We had homemade bread, jams and marmalade from fruits grown on the farm. Instead of oranges we came away with marmalade and jam! We then went to the town of Sives with Matteo our guide. He bought food and wine from a specialist shop selling products from The Alentejo. This food was for our picnic lunch in a "secret garden" this was out in the hills beyond Silves and was idyllic. The food was excellently prepared by our host Jose. We had a wonderful day out. Our guide Matteo spoke perfect English and was extremely knowledgeable about the area.
