This was such an adventure! Our guides, Hugo and Mano were great. I was picked up in Funchal and driven to the meeting point. After changing into all the required gear, you hike to the canyon. We did a lot of rappelling (abseiling) and clambering over and around rocks. There were a couple short, natural slides and two jumps into the water below. We also had a bit of swimming to do. We hiked back out at the end. I felt safe during this trip, but you do need a good sense of balance and fitness. If I could change anything about it, it would be a smaller group. There were 12 people, so you have to wait awhile for all the others to do each element. It gave me lots of time to chat with the other participants. For my first canyoning experience, it was awesome!

Book this experience with BELOCALMADEIRA it was an epic amount of fun! The guides are incredibly happy, knowledgeable and funny! We had the best morning, rappelling down waterfalls and sliding down natural slides. A must do in Madeira!

We enjoyed a Level 2 canyoning tour with our guide Fabio and his colleague we were a group of 5 of us and another small group joining us. Be Local Madeira was soo kind as we arrived with a big delay as it was our first day on Madeira and we run into heavy traffic, but they waited for us and were so so nice.
The Level 2 was perfect for us and could have been maybe even one Level up. I personally enjoyed walking to our canyon in nuns valley and repelling down the most. I was and am not a Fan of water slides anywhere but I felt very safe with the Team and did it :) next time i will be brave and also jump of the cliff, too! We had a sort of beginner group in front of us with a very outgoing guide, which we passed at a certain point. I preferred Fabios character way more, he was fun but still calm sort of serious sometimes but this gave me a professional impression that he is concentrated and taking care of us. And besides that he was also talkative and joking. And I mean the pictures and videos are huuuuge and included and this is often not. He was able to enable and align all the different physical and mental capabilities in the whole group to make the best out of this Trip so nobody felt bored and still felt challenged. The Route we took was a little short, I would have loved to do more but that might be the case for higher level tours. Anyhow the Adrenalin was high and we were so tired afterwards and had so much fun.
We had a great talk with him afterwards and he shared several further local recommendations with us from hikes to Restaurants.
But the cherry on top was he was there when we took a hike on our last day which went really not as planned and we needed help to come safely back home. So he took every effort to help us out and rescued us with the help of his colleagues and friends from nuns valley! So he was basically our hero the whole vacation and really realized the full Madeira experience for us! THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN GUYS

We had the most incredible experience from start to finish! All the guides were so professional and were always ensuring everybody was safe within the group throughout the entire day but whilst doing so, also making sure you were having a laugh and enjoying the experience too😁
Both Pedro and Valerio were the best guides we could’ve asked for for the trip today and we can’t wait to come back in 2025 to take on the level 3 🙏🏻 cannot recommend this company enough the best at what they do!! See you next year 🫶🏻

What to expect
✔️ After the pick-up, we will drive to the Canyoning location.
✔️ You will meet your guides as equipment is being dispersed and then taken on a 20-minute walk to the entrance of a stream where the first safety briefing will take place.
✔️ Along the way you will be able to abseil breath-taking waterfalls, jump and swim in beautiful natural pools, always surrounded by incredible landscapes.
✔️ With natural water slides, abseiling and jumps into natural rock pools the canyons are sure to make your heart skip a beat.
✔️ The beginning of the stream has some vertical challenges (up to 26 feet), small walking sections, and many play areas.
The river will be flowing by the entire time with several jumping areas 15-20 feet high. The challenge continues following a quick snack break with waterfalls up to 35 feet tall!
✔️ At the end of the trip, there will be transportation to bring you back to the park where you began your adventure.
