Hiking to the top of Pico Ruivo was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Although I hate cardio, the views at sunrise were worth it. Claùdio was responsive to my questions before the hike and an invaluable guide.

With Claudio it has been so easier to arrive at the top of the highest Madeira’s mountain, I will suggest to do it with him to all, in this way you can do a safe route, quite hard at 6AM in the morning but if you find the perfect weather will be amazing the view from the highest part!!!! During the route he will explain to you a lot of things about Madeira ! Super 10+++ !!!!

The time it takes to reach the place is about 35 minutes by car from Funchal, and then we walk about 2.3 kms for 45 minutes.
What to expect
We will take a walk of about 3 km to Cais do Sardinha, lasting 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, and then we will wait for the incredible sunrise, accompanied by an impressive view from the north to the south of Madeira Island. To combat the cold, we will be provided with a hot tea or coffee, according to your preference. After sunrise, we will return to the car and stop at some viewpoints.
We will arrive at the hotel around 10:30 in the morning.
