West Kennet Long Barrow
It is rare that more than 1 or 2 other people are here, often we have it to ourselves. A 10 minute walk from the road takes us to this incredibly evocative burial chamber built by the civilisation who are responsible for Avebury, Stonehenge and hundreds of other great monuments. Please note this is up a slope on a gravel/soil path and may not be accessible in bad weather or for those with limited mobility.
Avebury Stone Circle
We will visit the largest stone circle which measures 1 mile in diameter and even cuts right through a village. Much less visited than Stonehenge and you can get up close to the stones too. Partly surrounded by a giant ditch and mound and with multiple stone circles inside.
