Explore occupied Paris (1940-1944) and discover one of the darkest periods in Paris history. During the occupation, Parisians called avenue Foch avenue des Boches. This is where the Gestapo offices were located. Your tour guide will tell you about the arrest of great resistance fighters like Pierre Brossolette and their tragic endings. You will see where Carl Heinrich von Stulpnagel lived. You will find out what his involvement was in Operation Walkyria and its consequences. You will go down the avenue des champs Elysées. The prestigious avenue was used for Reich propaganda purposes. You will see which restaurants, cafes, cinemas which were frequented by the Germans (Fouquets, Maxims ....). The tour will end at the Place de la Concorde where you will notice bullet holes dating from the liberation. A little further on at Le Meurice, the fate of Paris may have been played out when the governor Von Choltitz refused to destroy Paris and did not obey Hitler's orders (Is paris burning?).
