Meet Andrew Taylor

Hello, fellow travelers! I'm Andrew Taylor, a Brit now living in Canada, and a lifelong Gooner. This blog is where I share my passions: Arsenal Football Club, travel, and history. Whether I'm recounting a matchday experience in a new city, exploring historical sites, or brewing a beer inspired by an Arsenal legend, I aim to blend my love for the beautiful game with my thirst for adventure. Join me as I explore the world, one match, one pint, and one historical landmark at a time.

More about Andrew Taylor
Born and raised in Exeter, UK, Andrew developed a lifelong love for Arsenal FC thanks to his grandfather, who was a season ticket holder at Highbury. Though history remained his academic and professional passion, football – especially following Arsenal – became the heartbeat of his leisure time. After graduating with a degree in History, he worked various jobs before becoming a historical reenactor. He met his wife, Emily, at a historical festival in the UK. The couple later moved to Halifax, Canada, for Emily’s career, and Andrew brought his Arsenal obsession with him, regularly traveling to see the team play across North America and Europe.

My Travel Highlight
One of my best travel experiences was attending the North London Derby at the Emirates Stadium. Favourite Destination
London will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up in Exeter, trips to London to see Arsenal play were formative experiences. The city is steeped in history, and every corner tells a story. From the Tower of London to the Houses of Parliament, there's an endless supply of historical landmarks to explore. And, of course, the football culture is second to none .

Best Hotel
The Novotel Paris Les Halles in Paris stands out as the best hotel I've enjoyed staying in, especially with my family . Its location is perfect, just a short walk from the Louvre and with a major Metro station nearby. The hotel offers air-conditioned rooms, free WiFi, a fitness center, and a restaurant with a lovely garden patio. Plus, breakfast is free for up to two kids under 16, which is a great perk .

My Adventurous Destination
Iceland was an incredible adventure. The dramatic landscapes, from the glaciers to the volcanoes, were unlike anything I've ever seen. Hiking in Þingvellir National Park and exploring the ice caves were truly unforgettable experiences.

My Food Destination
I have to say Rome is the best foodie destination I've ever visited . Every meal was a celebration of fresh, simple ingredients, and the pasta dishes were out of this world. I took a pizza-making class and learned the secrets of authentic Roman-style pizza. I also explored local markets, sampling cheeses, olives, and cured meats .
