Today was a vibrant tapestry of sights, sounds, and tastes, as Con Dao continued to reveal its unique charm. From exploring scenic vistas to indulging in local cuisine, every moment felt like a step deeper into the heart of this island paradise. The camaraderie with my friends made it all the more special, as we shared laughter, stories, and the joy of discovery. It’s amazing how a place can feel both familiar and endlessly surprising at the same time.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Quán Cơm Su Su. This cozy spot was a delightful introduction to the local flavors of Con Dao. Olivia and I shared a table with Mark and Emily, reminiscing about our sailing days back in the British Virgin Islands as we enjoyed a traditional Vietnamese breakfast. The fresh ingredients and aromatic spices were a welcome start to our adventures. I opted for a classic *pho*, while Olivia chose a savory rice dish. It was the perfect fuel for the day ahead, and the friendly atmosphere of the quán made us feel right at home.

After breakfast, we set out to explore Sở Rẫy. The trek to Sở Rẫy was nothing short of spectacular. As an urban planner, I couldn't help but appreciate the pristine forest ecosystem and the thoughtful integration of nature and infrastructure. The trail wound through lush greenery, with glimpses of the town below. The air was fresh and crisp, filled with the sounds of birds and rustling leaves. It was a refreshing change from the bustling city life of Toronto.

Reaching the viewpoint at Sở Rẫy was a breathtaking experience. The panoramic views of Côn Sơn town were simply stunning, and I took countless photos to capture the moment. The historical significance of the area, dating back to the French colonial era, added another layer of depth to the experience.

Next on our itinerary was Chim Chim cape. The drive to the cape was an adventure in itself, with winding roads offering glimpses of the coastline. Chim Chim cape is a truly natural masterpiece. The turquoise beaches and imposing mountains created a dreamy landscape that was a feast for the eyes. We spent hours exploring the area, taking in the breathtaking coastal views and vibrant natural surroundings. The peaceful ambiance made it an ideal retreat, and I felt a sense of tranquility wash over me as I gazed at the horizon.

Olivia, ever the photography enthusiast, was in her element, capturing the beauty of Chim Chim cape from every angle. For lunch, we stopped at Nhà hàng Thu Tâm. This restaurant is the largest in Côn Đảo and specializes in seafood. The restaurant's charming ambiance and diverse menu made it a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic Vietnamese flavors. The restaurant was bustling with activity, filled with locals and tourists alike. The aroma of freshly cooked seafood filled the air, making our mouths water in anticipation. We ordered a variety of dishes, including grilled squid, steamed prawns, and a flavorful fish curry. Each dish was a culinary delight, showcasing the freshest local catches and traditional Vietnamese cooking techniques.

After a satisfying lunch, we decided to indulge in a bit of retail therapy at Hin Beautytips - Mỹ Phẩm , Phụ Kiện , Quần Áo , Nước Hoa Côn Đảo - Mi Pham Con Dao - Hin Cosmetic. This lively cosmetics store offered an extensive selection of high-quality beauty products, fashion accessories, and unique gifts. Olivia was particularly excited to explore the local beauty products, while I browsed the selection of stationery and unique gifts. We both found some delightful souvenirs to take back home, and the friendly staff made the shopping experience all the more enjoyable.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to ULA Restaurant & Bar Con Dao for dinner. The restaurant's stunning tropical setting and innovative menu made it a perfect choice for a memorable evening. We started with some refreshing cocktails, enjoying the cool sea breeze and the sound of the waves. For dinner, I opted for a seafood platter, while Olivia chose a vegetarian dish. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was simply magical.

Before heading back to our homestay, we took a leisurely stroll along the beach, soaking in the tranquility of the night. The stars twinkled above us, and the sound of the waves was a soothing lullaby. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

Reflecting on the day, I realized how much I appreciate these moments of exploration and connection. Con Dao has a way of slowing down time, allowing you to savor every experience and create lasting memories. As I prepare for tomorrow's visit to the Vo Thi Sau Hero Grave and Hang Duong Cemetery, I feel a sense of anticipation and reverence. It will be a day of reflection and remembrance, as we pay our respects to the heroes who sacrificed so much for this beautiful island.

Tomorrow, we plan to start our day with breakfast at Infinity Cafe & Restaurant, followed by a visit to the Vo Thi Sau Hero Grave and Hang Duong Cemetery. We'll have lunch at Nhà hàng Cánh Buồm and dinner at Nhà Hàng Bến Cảng - Seafood Restaurant. And perhaps, we'll end the day with a drink at LoCo Lodge & Pub.

It perfectly encapsulates how I feel about this trip. Con Dao has indeed cast its spell on me, and I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
