Today was a delightful blend of cultural immersion and playful adventure. Lena and I started our day exploring the flavors of Delphi before escaping to the mountains for some fun in nature. It was a day that perfectly captured the essence of what we hoped to experience on this trip – a mix of history, culture, and a bit of lightheartedness.

Our morning began with a hearty breakfast at the Amalia Hotel Delphi. Nothing beats starting the day with a good meal and a stunning view. After breakfast, we set off for the MoKa olive stories tour. As someone who appreciates the finer details of Mediterranean culture, I was particularly excited about this. Growing up in Pano Lefkara, olives were a staple, but I was eager to learn more about the process and history here in Delphi.

The MoKa tour was fantastic. We learned about the different types of olives, the traditional methods of pressing, and the significance of olive oil in Greek culture. The tour guides were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, sharing stories that have been passed down through generations. Lena, with her keen interest in sustainable practices, was particularly impressed by MoKa's commitment to eco-friendly farming. We even got to taste a variety of olive oils, each with its own unique flavor profile. I must admit, the taste of that fresh, green olive oil transported me back to my childhood in Cyprus. It's amazing how a simple taste can evoke such powerful memories.

After the olive oil tour, we indulged in some local honey. I never knew there were so many different types of honey, each with its own distinct taste and aroma. Lena was fascinated by the beekeeping process, learning about the crucial role bees play in the ecosystem. We even considered signing up for the wax-soap workshop but decided to keep moving, knowing Pavliani Recreation Park awaited us.

For lunch, we stopped at Tavern THE DOLPHINS, a charming local spot. We shared a plate of grilled octopus and a traditional Greek salad, soaking in the relaxed atmosphere. It was the perfect midday break before our afternoon adventure. Fuelled up we made our way to Pavliani Recreation Park. The drive itself was beautiful, winding through lush green hills and offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience this part of Greece.

Pavliani Recreation Park turned out to be exactly what we needed – a chance to unwind and embrace our inner child. The park is nestled in the mountains and is full of quirky, handmade attractions. We walked along paths adorned with colorful signs and playful artwork. There were swings over the river, hammocks strung between trees, and even a zip line. Lena, ever the adventurous one, insisted we try everything. I must admit, zipping across the river was a bit of a thrill, even for someone who usually prefers more grounded activities. The park was teeming with families, all enjoying the beautiful weather and playful atmosphere. It was heartwarming to see so many people connecting with nature and having fun together.

One of the highlights of the park was the Throne of Zeus, an iron structure offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The climb up was a bit challenging, but the view was well worth the effort. Standing there, surrounded by such natural beauty, I felt a sense of peace and contentment. It was a moment I won't soon forget.

As the day drew to a close, we stopped at Rocky cafe and bar in Delphi for a relaxing drink. Sipping on a glass of local wine, we watched the sunset over the valley. The view was simply breathtaking, and the atmosphere was perfect for reflecting on the day's adventures. We chatted about our favorite moments, laughing about the zip line and marveling at the olive oil tasting. It's moments like these that make traveling with Lena so special. We share a love for exploring new places and experiencing new things, but more importantly, we share a deep connection that makes every adventure even more meaningful.

For dinner, we dined at OMFALOS, a highly-recommended restaurant in Delphi. The food was exceptional, showcasing the best of Greek cuisine. We savored every bite, reminiscing about our day and planning our adventures for tomorrow.

Tomorrow, we plan to explore the Ancient Roman Sarcophagi Site and delve into the MoKa honey Stories tour. I'm particularly curious about the sarcophagi, as I've always been fascinated by Roman history. And of course, Lena is already looking forward to learning more about bees and honey. We might even pop into Greek Spirit for some local finds.

As I sit here writing this, I can't help but feel grateful for this incredible journey. Delphi has exceeded all my expectations, offering a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. I'm excited to see what tomorrow brings, knowing that each day is a new opportunity to discover something amazing.

It’s these days, filled with unexpected joys and shared laughter, that remind me why I love to travel. And it's these memories, etched in my mind and heart, that I'll cherish long after we've returned to Berlin.
