Today was a day of contrasts, a beautiful blend of historical grandeur and the serene embrace of nature. Trentino-Alto Adige continues to surprise me with its hidden gems, each corner whispering stories of the past and showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the present. I'm so grateful to be sharing these moments with Habibullah, as we uncover the soul of this region together.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Ristorante Adige. While the restaurant wasn't exactly serving traditional Afghan dishes, it was a delightful start to the day. We enjoyed some fresh pastries and strong Italian coffee. It was a good way to fuel up for a day of exploration. As many of you know, I've always believed that food is an integral part of understanding a culture, and even a simple breakfast can offer insights into the local way of life.

After breakfast, we set off to Castel Thun. As we approached, the castle stood majestically atop a hill, overlooking the Val di Non. The architecture was impressive, a harmonious blend of elegance and strength. It felt as if we were stepping back in time, walking in the footsteps of the Thun family who resided here for centuries. I could almost imagine the lords and ladies of the past strolling through the gardens, their laughter echoing through the stone walls.

The path to the waterfall was a gentle descent through lush greenery, a welcome change of scenery. I was grateful I had remembered to bring my comfortable hiking boots.

Habibullah and I shared a hearty plate of canederli, a traditional bread dumpling dish, and savored the rich flavors of the local beer. It was the perfect way to refuel after our morning adventures.

In the late afternoon, we took a stroll through Trento, soaking in the atmosphere of this charming city. It was a lively spot, and we enjoyed chatting with some of the locals and learning more about the city.

I am already looking forward to tomorrow, when we plan to venture to Ortisei in Val Gardena. I hear the pedestrian zone is lovely, and I am looking forward to exploring the area.
