Today was a day of wandering through the heart of Amalfi, soaking in its history and charm. From historical statues to tranquil parks, every corner held a new discovery. The day was a blend of cultural immersion and culinary indulgence, shared with great company and laughter. It’s amazing how much you can uncover when you simply allow yourself to get lost in the rhythm of a place.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Terrazza Duomo. The caffè was strong and the pastries were fresh, setting the perfect tone for the adventures ahead. The view of the Duomo from the terrace was simply breathtaking. The Duomo di Amalfi is one of the key places to visit in Amalfi, and having breakfast with such a view was a great way to start the day. I had read some great reviews about Terrazza Duomo before deciding on it, and it certainly lived up to its reputation! Olivia would have loved this place, I must bring her here next time.

My friend pointed out the intricate details and craftsmanship that reflect the town's artistic heritage. It was fascinating to learn that Flavio Gioia is credited with inventing the magnetic compass. The square was bustling with activity, locals and tourists alike creating a vibrant atmosphere. I took a moment to sit on one of the benches, soaking in the views of the surrounding hills and the sparkling sea. I snapped a few photos, trying to capture the essence of this enchanting place. Thando would have loved this spot, he is always so curious about history and inventions.

Next on our list was Parco del Dragone, a short drive from the town center. This park, dedicated to the valorization of the caves and terraces that decline from the Duomo in the valley of the Dragone river, was a welcome escape from the bustling town. The park is divided into terraces, each offering a different activity for both adults and children. As we wandered through the park, we were greeted by lush greenery, vibrant flora, and panoramic views that stretched across the scenic landscape. It was the perfect setting for a leisurely walk. I was particularly drawn to the Grotta del Dragone, a historic cave filled with charm and uniqueness. The park also featured sculptures, animated fountains, interactive games, and even a labyrinth. It felt like stepping into a fairy tale. I took a moment to simply breathe and appreciate the tranquility of nature.

After a morning of exploration, we were ready for lunch. La Bussola sul Mare, with its stunning waterfront views, was the perfect choice. The restaurant is located near Piazza Duomo and the tourist port, making it easily accessible. We were seated at a table overlooking the sea, and the gentle breeze and sound of the waves created a relaxing ambiance. La Bussola sul Mare is known for its traditional Mediterranean cuisine, prepared with care and passion by the chefs. We started with a selection of fresh seafood appetizers, followed by homemade pasta with clams and mussels. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and it was evident that the ingredients were of the highest quality. The service was impeccable, and our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. As we savored our meal, we reminisced about our adventures in Kelowna, and how much we missed our families. I made a mental note to try to recreate some of these dishes back home for Olivia and Thando.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to Bar Francese for a pre-dinner drink. The bar is located in Piazza Duomo, offering a prime spot for people-watching. We ordered some Aperol spritzes and toasted to our friendship. The atmosphere was lively, and the bar was filled with locals and tourists alike. The prices were a bit high, but the location and ambiance made it worth it. I took a moment to reflect on the day and felt grateful for the opportunity to experience the beauty of Amalfi with such great company.

Each dish was prepared with care and bursting with flavor. The service was attentive and personalized, making us feel like part of the family. As we enjoyed our meal, we shared stories and laughter, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the experiences we had shared. Amalfi had captured my heart with its beauty, history, and charm. I drifted off to sleep, dreaming of the adventures that awaited us tomorrow. Tomorrow, we are planning to experience Gianni's Boat and the Amalfi Coast Viewpoint, and maybe do a little shopping at Ricky's Shop.
