Our first stop was Restaurante A Casa for breakfast. The aroma of freshly baked bread and strong coffee was the perfect start to a day of exploration. I opted for a classic *torrada* with butter, while Lena chose a pastry filled with local cheese. It's the simple things that often taste the best, especially when enjoyed in good company. King Dinis ordered the fortification of the town in 1306, and the Concession of Evoramonte was signed here in 1834, ending the Liberal Wars. Walking through the village, we felt the weight of centuries, the echoes of battles and treaties, the quiet resilience of the people who have lived here through it all. We explored the four original doors in the wall around Evoramonte. The clean, unadorned style reminded us of its main function, the defense of the village. We also saw the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição (church) near the cemetery.

After soaking in the history of Evoramonte, we drove to Aromas do Campo for lunch. This restaurant promised a taste of the Alentejo countryside, and it didn't disappoint. We shared a platter of local cheeses and cured meats, accompanied by crusty bread and a bottle of regional wine. The flavors were rich and earthy, a perfect reflection of the landscape around us. Its unique architecture, a blend of Gothic and Moorish styles, gave it a fortress-like appearance. Inside, we admired the intricate *azulejos* and the serene atmosphere. It was a peaceful end to a day filled with exploration, a moment to reflect on the history and beauty we had encountered.

The owner, Miguel, is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. I savored the perfectly cooked shrimp, while Lena thoroughly enjoyed the partridge pie. It was the perfect ending to a day of exploration, a chance to relax and savor the flavors of the Alentejo.
