Chasing Waterfalls and City Views in Chefchaouen
Today was all about immersing ourselves in the natural beauty and local flavors of Chefchaouen. From the refreshing cascades of Ras El Ma to the panoramic views from the City View Point, every moment was a sensory delight. The day was a perfect blend of exploration and relaxation, punctuated by delicious meals and the simple joy of experiencing a new culture with friends.
Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Tissemlal. Lena and I always appreciate a good start to the day, and Tissemlal didn't disappoint. The fresh ingredients and authentic Moroccan flavors set the perfect tone for our adventures. It's amazing how a delicious meal can fuel your excitement for the day ahead.
After breakfast, we set off to explore Ras El Ma, a natural spring and waterfall located just outside the medina. The walk there was a treat in itself, as we navigated the charming blue streets of Chefchaouen. The weather in October is quite pleasant, with temperatures ranging from the low 50s to the low 70s, making it ideal for exploring the town's hidden gems.
Reaching Ras El Ma, we were greeted by the soothing sound of water cascading down the rocks. It was a refreshing escape from the bustling town, and we spent some time simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. I even captured a few photos, trying to capture the essence of this serene spot. The locals use the spring to wash clothes and gather water, offering a glimpse into their daily lives. Lena was particularly fascinated by this, always keen to observe local customs and traditions.

The beauty of Chefchaouen lies not just in its blue-washed walls, but in the simple, authentic moments that connect you to its heart.
Next on our itinerary was the City View Point. The hike up was invigorating, offering increasingly stunning views of Chefchaouen as we ascended. The city looked like a painting, a sea of blue nestled against the backdrop of the Rif Mountains. I'm glad I remembered to bring my camera, even though I forgot the sunglasses; the views were simply too breathtaking not to capture.
Reaching the viewpoint, we were rewarded with a panoramic vista of Chefchaouen. The sprawling blue medina, the surrounding green hills, and the clear October sky created a picture-perfect scene. It was a moment to simply pause and appreciate the beauty of our surroundings. We spent a good hour there, soaking in the views and taking photos from every angle.

For lunch, we chose Restaurant Morisco, enticed by its reputation for having the most beautiful high terrace overlooking the square. We climbed the stairs to the terrace and secured a table with a prime view of Plaza Uta el-Hammam. The tagine was delicious, and the mint tea was the perfect accompaniment. Lena enjoyed the Moroccan salad, savoring the fresh, local ingredients. The service was friendly and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience.
In the late afternoon, we decided to embrace the local vibe and visited Bar Oum Rabie. It was a great spot to unwind after a day of exploring. I opted for a local beer, while Lena enjoyed a refreshing juice. The atmosphere was relaxed and convivial, and we chatted with some fellow travelers, sharing stories and travel tips.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to Restaurant Bab Kasaba for dinner. The restaurant had a cozy ambiance, and the menu featured a variety of Moroccan specialties. I chose the couscous, while Lena went for the pastilla. Both dishes were flavorful and satisfying, a fitting end to a day filled with culinary delights.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, we plan to explore Plaza Uta el Hamman and the Grand Mosque of Chefchaouen. We're also hoping to do some shopping for local crafts. Lena is particularly interested in finding some unique souvenirs to take back home.
The weather forecast for tomorrow looks promising, with comfortable temperatures and mostly clear skies. It should be another perfect day for exploring Chefchaouen.
Today was a reminder of why I love to travel. It's about discovering new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating lasting memories with friends. Chefchaouen has already captured a piece of my heart, and I'm excited to see what tomorrow brings. I am also grateful that Lena is here with me, sharing these experiences and making them even more special. It's these shared moments that make our travels so meaningful.
As I sit here writing this, reflecting on the day, I feel a sense of contentment and gratitude. Chefchaouen has exceeded my expectations, and I'm already looking forward to another day of exploration and adventure. The blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality makes this blue city a truly special place. I encourage anyone planning a trip to Morocco to include Chefchaouen on their itinerary. It's an experience you won't soon forget. The city is definitely worth visiting.
And now, it's time to rest and recharge for another day of adventures in this enchanting blue city. Good night from Chefchaouen!
I am looking forward to tomorrow's adventures, and I am also keenly aware that I need to find a portable charger, as my phone battery is constantly running low from taking so many pictures. I guess that's the price you pay for capturing every moment of this incredible journey. And maybe I will buy sunglasses tomorrow, so I can enjoy the views without squinting.
The people here are also very friendly, although I was offered drugs a few times. I never felt unsafe, but it's something to be aware of, especially if you're traveling with children. Just politely decline and move on, and you'll be fine.
One thing I've noticed is the abundance of cats in Chefchaouen. They seem to be everywhere, and they're all very friendly and well-fed. It's clear that the locals care for them, and they add to the charm of the city. Lena, being a cat lover, is particularly delighted by this. She's always stopping to pet them and take pictures, much to my amusement.
Overall, today was a fantastic introduction to Chefchaouen. I'm excited to see what else this blue city has in store for us. And I'm grateful for the opportunity to share these experiences with you, my readers. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I hope you'll continue to follow along as we explore the world together.
