A Final Day of Discovery

As my Moroccan adventure with my friends draws to a close, I wanted to soak up every last bit of Marrakech. It’s hard to believe it’s already the final day of our trip! We decided to take it easy today, revisiting some favorite spots and discovering a few new gems before our flight back to Berlin tomorrow. I'm already anticipating sharing all my photos and stories with Lena.



Our day began with a delightful breakfast at L'Mdina Marrakech. The atmosphere was so peaceful, especially with the live music creating a soothing backdrop. We enjoyed some traditional Moroccan pastries and strong coffee, fueling up for our day of exploration. The staff were incredibly kind, making us feel right at home. It was the perfect start to a day dedicated to savoring our final moments in this vibrant city. I made a mental note to recommend this place to anyone visiting Marrakech; it's a true culinary oasis in the heart of the Medina.

After breakfast, we made our way to the Cyber Park Arsat Moulay Abdesalam. I must admit, I was intrigued by the name – a blend of nature and technology. The park turned out to be a refreshing escape from the bustling city streets. It’s a beautifully maintained green space, and I could see why locals love to come here to relax. As someone who appreciates sustainable living, I was particularly impressed by the park’s eco-friendly initiatives, such as using recycled garden waste for compost and solar power for lighting. We strolled through the rose garden, enjoying the vibrant colors and fragrant perfumes. It was a welcome break from the intensity of the Medina, and a reminder of the importance of preserving green spaces in urban environments. The blend of the old and the new was remarkable, it made me think about how cities can evolve while still respecting their history and traditions.

For lunch, we headed to Rooftop Restaurant Koulchi Zine in the Medina. I had heard great things about their vegan options, and since I've been trying to incorporate more plant-based meals into my diet, I was eager to try it. The rooftop view was stunning, offering a panoramic vista of Marrakech. We ordered the veggie balls and vegetarian couscous, which came in a traditional tagine. The flavors were incredible, a perfect blend of spices and fresh vegetables. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. It was the ideal spot to reflect on our adventures over the past ten days. My friends and I shared stories and laughed about our experiences, feeling grateful for the opportunity to explore such a fascinating city together. This restaurant really captures the essence of Moroccan cuisine, blending tradition with modern culinary trends.

In the afternoon, we decided to do some last-minute shopping at Menara Mall. While I generally prefer exploring local markets, I was curious to see what this modern shopping center had to offer. The mall was huge, with a mix of international brands and local shops. I was particularly interested in “Le Souk”, which aimed to capture the scents and colors of the traditional souks. I picked up a few small souvenirs for Lena and some traditional spices to bring back to Berlin. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon, and I appreciated the convenience of finding everything in one place. I also noticed a wide variety of dining options, from fast food to more upscale restaurants. It's a place where you can find anything you need, from fashion to electronics. I can see why it's a popular spot for both tourists and locals. The blend of modern shopping with traditional Moroccan elements was quite interesting.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to Les Terrasses Des Arts Marrakech for our final dinner. The restaurant was beautifully designed, spread over three floors, with a photography exhibition on the second floor. The ambiance was elegant and sophisticated, and we were seated on the terrace with a breathtaking view of the city. The menu offered a mix of Asian, French, Italian, and Moroccan cuisine, and we all chose different dishes to share. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. It was the perfect setting for our farewell dinner, a chance to savor the last moments of our Moroccan adventure. The restaurant truly lived up to its reputation as one of the best in Marrakech. The combination of art, cuisine, and stunning views made it a memorable experience.

Reflecting on our trip, I’m struck by how much we managed to see and do in just eleven days. I am grateful for the opportunity to have shared this experience with my friends, and I know that these memories will stay with me for a long time. As a software developer, I often find myself immersed in the digital world, but traveling allows me to reconnect with the physical world and appreciate the beauty and diversity of our planet. I’m already looking forward to planning my next adventure, perhaps somewhere closer to home, like hiking in the Harz Mountains with Lena. But for now, I’ll cherish the memories of Marrakech and the warmth of its people. Tomorrow, we head back to Berlin, filled with stories and souvenirs to share.
