Exploring the Enchanting Ronda Valley
Day 9: Ronda's Farewell Embrace: A Day of Breathtaking Views and Lasting Memories
Discover Ronda's stunning vistas, from cliffside viewpoints to historic gates, and savor the flavors of Andalusia on our final day.
Adios, Ronda!
As our Ronda Valley adventure draws to a close, I wanted to soak in every last bit of this enchanting place. Today was all about revisiting some of the most iconic viewpoints and hidden gems, savoring the local cuisine one last time, and creating memories that Hans and I will cherish forever. It’s amazing how a place can capture your heart in just a few days, and Ronda has certainly done that for us.
We started our day with a delightful breakfast at La Niña Adela. The aroma of freshly baked bread and Spanish coffee filled the air as we settled into a cozy corner. I opted for a traditional *tostada* with tomato and olive oil, while Hans enjoyed a hearty *serrano* ham sandwich. It was the perfect way to fuel up for a day of exploration. The restaurant is known for blending traditional and modern cuisine, and since 1985 has been offering gluten-free options.
Sometimes, the best way to appreciate a place is to simply stand still and let its beauty wash over you.
Our first stop was the Ronda View. Standing there, gazing at the Tajo Gorge and the Puente Nuevo, I was once again struck by the sheer magnificence of this landscape. The way the morning light illuminated the white-washed buildings clinging to the cliffs was simply magical. I snapped a few photos, trying to capture the essence of this breathtaking panorama, but no image could truly do it justice.

Next, we ventured to Puerta Del Viento. This ancient gateway, one of the city's oldest entrances, offered a glimpse into Ronda's rich history. As we walked through the stone archway, I imagined the countless travelers who had passed through this very spot over the centuries. The views from here were equally impressive, with sweeping vistas of the surrounding countryside.

From there, we made our way to Mirador de Ronda. This viewpoint, perched on the edge of the cliff, provided a different perspective of the gorge and the Puente Nuevo. I loved how we could see the river snaking its way through the valley below, and the birds soaring effortlessly through the air. It was a perfect spot for quiet contemplation and reflection.

For lunch, we decided to try Restaurante Azahar. Located in the Hotel Catalonia Reina Victoria, this restaurant boasts incredible views of the Ronda mountains. We savored traditional Andalusian dishes with a modern twist. I chose a flavorful seafood paella, while Hans enjoyed a perfectly grilled Iberian pork. Each bite was a celebration of local flavors and culinary artistry.

After lunch, we strolled through the charming streets of Ronda, soaking in the atmosphere and browsing the local shops. I couldn't resist picking up a few souvenirs to remind us of our time here – a hand-painted ceramic plate and a bottle of local wine.
Our final stop of the day was Tabanco Los Arcos. This traditional tapas bar, located near the Puente Nuevo, is known for its lively ambiance and delicious local wines. We shared a few plates of tapas – *jamón ibérico*, *manchego* cheese, and *patatas bravas* – while sipping on a glass of *Rioja*. The bar has a large selection of fresh tapas and main courses. It was the perfect way to end our day, surrounded by the sounds of laughter and conversation.

As the sun began to set, we found ourselves back at the Puente Nuevo, watching as the sky transformed into a canvas of orange, pink, and purple hues. It was a truly magical moment, and I felt grateful for the opportunity to experience the beauty of Ronda with Hans.
Tomorrow, we bid farewell to Ronda and begin our journey back to Berlin. While I'm excited to return home, I know that a part of me will always remain in this enchanting valley. The memories we've made here – the stunning landscapes, the delicious food, and the warm hospitality of the locals – will stay with us forever. Until next time, Ronda!
