It’s amazing how each day here brings a completely different perspective, a new way to appreciate the sheer diversity of this national park. From the soaring heights of yesterday's hike to the cool, dark depths of today's cave exploration, this journey continues to surprise and inspire.

My day began with a sense of anticipation as I set off to explore Gruta do Lapão. The journey to the cave was an adventure in itself, with the landscape transforming into a mesmerizing canvas of rugged terrain and vibrant flora. The promise of unveiling the secrets hidden within the earth fueled my excitement, and I couldn't wait to see what wonders awaited me in the depths of the cave.

The entrance to Gruta do Lapão is truly awe-inspiring. Known as the cave with the largest entrance in Brazil, the sheer scale of the opening is something to behold. As I stepped inside, I was immediately enveloped in a cool, damp atmosphere, a stark contrast to the warm Bahia sun outside. With my souvenir safely tucked away, my stomach began to rumble, reminding me that it was time for dinner. I had heard great things about Restaurante Sabor da Serra in Lençóis and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is known for its regional cuisine and its use of fresh, local ingredients.

Restaurante Sabor da Serra is a cozy and inviting space, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The walls are adorned with local art, and the tables are set with colorful tablecloths and flowers. I was immediately charmed by the restaurant's rustic elegance and its commitment to showcasing the flavors of the Chapada Diamantina.

I started my meal with a traditional Bahian appetizer, acarajé, a deep-fried bean cake filled with vatapá, a creamy coconut milk-based sauce, and shrimp. It was a burst of flavors and textures, a perfect introduction to the regional cuisine. For my main course, I decided to try the Moqueca de Cajú, a cashew-based seafood stew that the restaurant is famous for. The moqueca was rich and creamy, with a delicate balance of sweet and savory flavors. The cashews added a unique texture and a subtle sweetness that complemented the seafood perfectly. It was, without a doubt, one of the best meals I’ve had in Brazil. Chef Katiana Alves truly knows how to create food that nourishes the soul.

I’m also hoping to check out Budha Bar in the evening for a relaxing end to the day [Vale do Capão] [Capão Valley].
