Pilgrimage to Fátima

Today, Olivia and I embarked on a deeply moving pilgrimage to Fátima. Leaving Tomar early, we drove to this renowned sanctuary, a place of immense significance for Catholics worldwide. I wanted to experience the spiritual heart of Portugal, a place where faith and history intertwine. Having grown up in Portugal, albeit in Évora, I've always heard stories of Fátima, but today was my first real encounter.

I savored the flavors of my homeland, while Olivia enjoyed a delicious seafood dish. The restaurant was bustling with pilgrims and locals alike, creating a vibrant and convivial atmosphere.

In the late afternoon, we returned to the Sanctuary to participate in a rosary procession. Tomorrow, we plan to explore the Mira de Aire Cave and the Batalha Monastery, two more of Portugal's hidden gems. I am particularly excited about visiting the monastery, another UNESCO World Heritage site, and delving deeper into Portugal's rich history and culture. Olivia is looking forward to perhaps doing some shopping at Parfois.

Our dinner this evening was at Restaurante Nabão, a local favorite known for its traditional Portuguese dishes. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was simply delicious. I had the *arroz de marisco*, a seafood rice dish that was bursting with flavor. Olivia opted for the *bacalhau à brás*, a classic codfish dish that she thoroughly enjoyed.
