As my Florentine adventure draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey of the past two weeks. This city, with its rich history and stunning architecture, has truly captured my heart. Today, my final day, I aimed to soak in as much of Florence's beauty as possible before my flight back to Montreal tomorrow.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at Caffè Gilli, a Florentine institution dating back to 1733. The aroma of freshly baked pastries and strong Italian coffee filled the air, a perfect start to my last day. Sipping my cappuccino, I watched as Piazza della Repubblica slowly came to life, the early morning light casting a warm glow on the square. It was a moment to savor, a quintessential Florentine experience.

Leaving the basilica, I strolled towards Strozzi Palace, a magnificent example of Renaissance architecture. Its imposing facade dominates Piazza Strozzi, a reminder of the city's turbulent past. I admired the palace's rusticated stone exterior and the elegant symmetry of its design. In the 19th century, the square was transformed during Florence's time as the capital of Italy, with many old buildings demolished to make way for grand boulevards and cafes. For lunch, I decided to try All’Antico Vinaio, a popular spot known for its delicious sandwiches. There was a long line, but I had heard so much about their schiacciata bread and unique fillings that I was willing to wait. Finally, I got my sandwich, a masterpiece of Tuscan flavors. The bread was crispy and flavorful, and the fillings were fresh and delicious. I found a nearby bench to sit and savor every bite, watching as the world went by. It was a simple pleasure, but one that perfectly captured the essence of Florence.

In the late afternoon, I decided to revisit some of my favorite spots in the city, places that had made a lasting impression on me during my stay. I climbed to the top of Piazzale Michelangelo, taking in the panoramic views of the city bathed in the golden light of the setting sun.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered a classic Florentine steak, cooked to perfection and served with roasted vegetables. It was a fitting end to my culinary journey through Tuscany, a celebration of the region's rich flavors and traditions.

I chatted with some locals and fellow travelers, sharing stories and laughter. It was a reminder that travel is not just about seeing new places, but also about connecting with people and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

I leave with a treasure trove of memories, experiences, and insights that will stay with me forever. And I know, without a doubt, that I will return to Florence someday, to continue my exploration of this incredible city and its rich cultural heritage.
