A Day of Discovery in Montemuro
Today was a blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue, a combination that always invigorates my soul. Serra do Montemuro continued to surprise me with its hidden gems, offering both tranquility and a deeper understanding of the region's past. It's days like these that remind me why I set out on this solo journey in the first place – to uncover the stories woven into the landscapes and the hearts of the people.
My day began with a hearty breakfast at Restaurante Solar do Montemuro. I savored every bite, knowing I needed the energy for the day's explorations. The restaurant is known for its traditional Portuguese dishes and I decided to try the *Bacalhau à Brás*, a codfish dish, and it was amazing. After breakfast, I set off towards Parque Botânico do Paiva, eager to immerse myself in nature.

The Parque Botânico do Paiva was a refreshing experience. As I wandered through the themed gardens, I was struck by the sheer variety of plant species, each meticulously labeled and cared for. The park is designed to showcase the region's biodiversity, and it certainly delivered. I spent a good couple of hours simply wandering, taking photos, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The air was filled with the scent of flowers, and the gentle sounds of the Paiva River added to the sense of serenity. I even spotted a few local families enjoying picnics, a testament to the park's appeal as a community space.

The service was friendly and efficient, and I left feeling completely satisfied. With my stomach full and my curiosity piqued, I made my way to the Museu Serpa Pinto.
