Adieu, Santorini!

As our incredible journey through Santorini draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the memories we've created, the sights we've seen, and the friendships we've deepened. Today was all about soaking in the last moments of this island paradise, from the tranquil beaches to the mesmerizing sunsets. It's hard to believe our 14-day adventure is already at its end, but what better way to commemorate it than with a day filled with everything that makes Santorini so special?



The day began with a delightful breakfast at Kapari Wine Restaurant in Imerovigli. The restaurant is part of the Kapari Natural Resort, and the setting was simply stunning. The views of the caldera were, as always, breathtaking, and the gentle morning breeze made the experience even more pleasant. I savored every bite of my meal, knowing it would be one of my last authentic Greek breakfasts on this trip. Kapari Wine Restaurant prides itself on using the finest ingredients, and you could truly taste the freshness in every dish. It was the perfect way to start our final day.

After breakfast, we decided to explore a bit of the island's southwestern coast, heading towards Akrotiri. Our first stop was the Akrotiri Lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is a historic landmark, built in 1892 by a French trading company, and stands as a sentinel overlooking the Aegean Sea. The drive there was scenic, offering panoramic views of the rugged coastline and the azure waters. The lighthouse is located on the southwestern tip of Santorini, about 18 kilometers from the capital, Thira. Upon arrival, the view was simply mesmerizing. The vastness of the sea, the dramatic cliffs, and the clear blue sky created a scene of unparalleled beauty. We spent some time taking photos and simply enjoying the tranquility of the location. It's a place where you can feel the history and appreciate the natural beauty of Santorini.

Sometimes, the most beautiful moments are the quiet ones, where you simply appreciate the world around you.

From the lighthouse, we ventured to White Beach. Getting there was an adventure in itself. White Beach is only accessible by boat from Red Beach or Kambia Beach, so we took a short boat ride. As we approached, the reason for its name became clear: towering white cliffs surround a small cove with dark volcanic pebbles. The contrast between the white cliffs and the deep blue sea was striking. We spent a few hours swimming in the crystal-clear waters and basking in the sun. White Beach is much quieter than its famous neighbor, Red Beach, offering a sense of serenity and seclusion. It was the perfect spot to unwind and reflect on our journey.

For lunch, we opted for Feredini, an elegant Italian restaurant located at the entrance of Oia. The restaurant's all-white decor and panoramic views of the Aegean Sea created a sophisticated and relaxing atmosphere. The name 'Feredini' comes from the Greek word for the traditional knife used for harvesting, and the restaurant prides itself on using fresh, local ingredients. I enjoyed homemade gnocchi, which was cooked to perfection, while enjoying the magnificent caldera view. The restaurant also has an updated wine list featuring Santorinian and Italian wines, making it a perfect spot for wine lovers. The food and the ambiance combined to create a truly memorable dining experience. Priya would have loved this place and she is a big fan of Italian cuisine, I will definitely be bringing her here one day.

As the day progressed, we made our way back towards Imerovigli to prepare for our final evening in Santorini. We wanted to make it special, so we chose Le Moustache Caldera Pool Lounge & Restaurant for dinner. Located in Imerovigli, Le Moustache is known for its vibrant atmosphere, refined flavors, and stunning sunset views. The restaurant is carved at the edge of the Caldera, offering a unique culinary experience with modern Greek and Mediterranean gastronomy. The infinity pool added a touch of luxury to the setting, and the natural colors and materials used in the decor created a relaxed and soothing atmosphere.

We arrived early to secure a good spot and watch the sunset. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors – oranges, pinks, and purples painted across the Aegean Sea. It was a breathtaking sight, and I felt a sense of gratitude for being able to witness such beauty. The dinner was equally impressive. I savored grilled salmon with aromatic crust, while enjoying a local Santorini white wine. The combination of the exquisite food, the stunning views, and the company of my friends made it a perfect final meal.



After dinner, we decided to extend our evening at Buddha-Bar Beach, located at La Maltese Estate in Imerovigli. This world-renowned bar is known for its unique blend of gastronomy, hospitality, wellness, music, and mixology. The setting is magnificent, perched at the highest point of the caldera, offering breathtaking views of the village of Imerovigli and the volcanic islands. The ambiance was electric, with world-famous DJs playing eclectic sets that created an exceptional atmosphere. We enjoyed fabulous cocktails and Tapasian bites, savoring the last moments of our Santorini adventure. Sipping my cocktail, listening to the music, and gazing at the stars, I felt a sense of contentment and gratitude. This trip had been everything I had hoped for and more.

As I sit here, writing this final blog post, I can't help but feel a tinge of sadness that our trip is coming to an end. However, I am also filled with joy and gratitude for the incredible experiences we've shared. Santorini has captured my heart with its stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. I will cherish the memories we've made here forever.



Tomorrow, we will be heading back to Toronto, filled with stories to tell and photos to share. I am already looking forward to planning our next adventure, wherever that may be. But for now, I bid farewell to Santorini, the enchanting island that has given us so much.
