Today was all about savoring the last moments in this medieval gem, soaking in its beauty, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. It's amazing how a place can capture your heart, and San Gimignano has certainly done that for me, Fatima, and Omar.

Our final day began with a delightful breakfast at La Vecchia Nicchia di Alessandro Pieragnoli Enoteca - Bruschetteria.
This charming spot, recommended by a local we met earlier in the week, was the perfect place to start our day. As we sat outside, enjoying the fresh air and the rising sun, I savored a cappuccino and a freshly baked pastry. Fatima chose a selection of bruschetta, while Omar devoured a chocolate croissant with gusto. It was a simple yet perfect start to our last day in San Gimignano.

We took a tour of the facilities, learning about the history of Vernaccia wine and the winemaking process. Of course, the highlight was the tasting! We sampled a variety of Vernaccia wines, each with its unique flavor profile. I particularly enjoyed the Rocca delle Macìe Vernaccia di San Gimignano, with its citrus notes and crisp finish. Fatima, who usually prefers red wine, was pleasantly surprised by the refreshing taste of the Vernaccia. Omar, of course, was more interested in the grape juice, but he enjoyed running around the vineyards and exploring the grounds.

After the Wine Experience, we decided to take a leisurely stroll to Porta delle Fonti. This historic gate, located on the east side of town, leads to the medieval public fountains. As we walked along the city walls, we were treated to stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The rolling hills, dotted with vineyards and olive groves, were a sight to behold.
When we reached Porta delle Fonti, we descended the steps to the fountains below. The fountains themselves were a marvel of engineering, with ten Roman and lancet arches concealing the original Lombard stony fountain dating back to the 9th century. It was a peaceful spot, and we took some time to relax and soak in the atmosphere. I imagined what life must have been like centuries ago, when these fountains were the primary source of water for the town.

The surrounding countryside stretched as far as the eye could see, a tapestry of green and gold. I took several photos, trying to capture the beauty of the scene, but no picture could truly do it justice. It was a moment to be present and just soak it all in.
Omar was particularly excited, pointing out the different landmarks and towers he recognized. It was heartwarming to see him so engaged with the history and culture of this place. Fatima and I took a moment to appreciate how lucky we were to share these experiences with our son.

Maria's Pelletterie San Gimignano & Volterra caught Fatima's eye, and we stepped inside to browse their selection of leather goods. The shop was filled with beautiful bags, belts, and wallets, all made from genuine Italian leather. Fatima, always with an eye for quality, spent quite some time examining the craftsmanship. She eventually settled on a beautiful handbag for herself, a souvenir to remind her of our trip to San Gimignano. I picked up a leather wallet, a practical and stylish reminder of our time here. Omar, of course, was more interested in the gelato shop next door, and we promised him a treat after we finished shopping.

For lunch, we chose La Bottega - San Gimignano, a restaurant known for its authentic Tuscan cuisine. We shared a selection of dishes, including the Pinsa Marinara and a cheese platter. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. It was a perfect midday meal, fueling us up for the rest of our adventures.

Our final meal in San Gimignano was at Ristorante Dorandò, a place recommended for its elegant ambiance and traditional Tuscan dishes with a modern twist. The restaurant itself was stunning, with 14th-century arched brick walls and a cozy atmosphere. We started with the pumpkin cream soup flavored with truffle, and the Pasta Rolls filled of Rabbit in Vernaccia of San Gimignano Wine with Olive Oil of Herbs. For my main course, I chose the lamb, while Fatima opted for the cheese ravioli. Omar, surprisingly, ordered the smoked duck. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were exquisite. It was the perfect way to end our culinary journey in San Gimignano.
