Discover the breathtaking views from Alto do Jaspe and the tranquil beauty of Arrábida, a day of nature, delicious food, and stunning sunsets.
A Day of Heights and Coastal Delights
Today was all about embracing the natural beauty of Arrábida Natural Park. Greta and I set out early, eager to explore the viewpoints and savor the local flavors. From stunning vistas to delicious meals, it was a day filled with memorable moments that I'm excited to share.
Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Ondagalapos. The restaurant is right on Galapos beach, a location I wouldn't mind waking up to every day. The sea air was crisp, and the sound of the waves was the perfect accompaniment to my coffee and *pastel de nata*. Greta opted for a fruit bowl, and we both enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere before the beach crowds arrived. It's amazing how a simple breakfast in a beautiful setting can set the tone for an entire day. The fresh fish selection is incredible, and the staff provides excellent service.

After breakfast, we drove to Alto do Jaspe, also known as Brecha da Arrábida. The drive itself was stunning, with winding roads offering glimpses of the turquoise ocean and lush greenery. Reaching the viewpoint, I was immediately struck by the panoramic views. The dramatic cliffs and the vast expanse of the Atlantic were a sight to behold. I took out my camera, snapping photos, trying to capture the essence of this breathtaking landscape. Greta, with her architect's eye, was fascinated by the geological formations, pointing out the different layers of rock and explaining how they were formed over millennia. I even managed to get a few good shots of the local flora, adding to my growing collection of landscape photography. The views from Alto do Jaspe are truly panoramic.

Sometimes, the most profound experiences are found in the simplest moments, like watching the sunset paint the sky with vibrant colors.
For lunch, we headed to Restaurante Retiro do Campo, a charming spot recommended by a local we met at the viewpoint. Tucked away in the countryside, this restaurant offered a welcome respite from the coastal winds. The menu featured traditional Portuguese dishes, and we decided to try the *arroz de marisco* (seafood rice) and grilled sardines. The *arroz de marisco* was rich and flavorful, packed with fresh seafood, while the sardines were perfectly grilled, with just the right amount of char. We sat on the outdoor terrace, enjoying our meal while soaking in the tranquil atmosphere. It was a delightful culinary experience that gave us a taste of authentic Portuguese cuisine.

After lunch, we made a spontaneous decision to do some shopping at MO Sesimbra. Greta had mentioned needing a few new pieces for her wardrobe, and I was always up for exploring local shops. MO Sesimbra turned out to be a great find. The store had a wide range of clothing for all ages, and Greta quickly found a stylish dress and a couple of tops. I even picked up a new lightweight jacket for myself. The staff were incredibly helpful, offering styling advice and making the shopping experience enjoyable. It's always a pleasure to support local businesses and discover unique items that you won't find anywhere else. It was open from 9 AM to 9 PM, and offered reasonable prices and regular promotions.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to a spot known for its lovely sunsets. We found a quiet spot overlooking the ocean and settled in to watch the spectacle unfold. The sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors, with hues of orange, pink, and purple blending seamlessly. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the landscape. It was a truly magical moment, and I felt grateful to be sharing it with Greta. We sat in silence, simply enjoying the beauty of nature. I captured some stunning photos, hoping to preserve the memory of this unforgettable sunset. There are boat tours that allow you to enjoy the sunset from the water.

For dinner, we decided to try Portofino, a restaurant in Sesimbra known for its Mediterranean and Portuguese cuisine. The restaurant had a cozy ambiance, with warm lighting and comfortable seating. We started with the seafood platter, which was a feast for the senses, featuring an array of fresh catches from the sea. For our main courses, Greta ordered the monkfish, while I opted for the fillet steak. Both dishes were expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The service was impeccable, and the staff made us feel welcome and attended to. It was the perfect way to end a day of exploration and adventure. The prices are reported to be fair.
