Adieu Marrakech!

As our two-week adventure in Marrakech draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible experiences we’ve shared. It's hard to believe how quickly the time has flown by, filled with vibrant sights, exotic aromas, and the warm embrace of Moroccan hospitality. Today was all about soaking in the last moments, finding those final treasures, and savoring the flavors that have defined our trip.

Our day began with a delightful breakfast at Simple Restaurant Marrakech. I was so excited to try this place out. I had read about it online, and I just knew that my friends would enjoy it too. It did not disappoint. The menu was indeed simple, but the food was mouth watering. The tagine was delicious and the atmosphere was just perfect. It was the perfect way to start our last day. I made sure to thank the staff for their service before leaving.

Next on the agenda was a guided tour with Marrakech Guided Tours. I wanted to make sure we didn't miss any hidden gems or historical highlights. We met our guide, a charming and knowledgeable local who was eager to share his love for the city. He led us through the winding alleyways, regaling us with stories of Marrakech's past and pointing out architectural details we would have surely missed on our own. I appreciated the personal touch and the way he tailored the tour to our interests. It was a fantastic way to gain a deeper understanding of this magical city. I made sure to bring my camera with me so I could capture all the memories with my friends. I was so glad I did because there were so many beautiful things to photograph.

Marrakech, with its vibrant colors and enchanting atmosphere, has woven its way into our hearts, leaving us with memories we will cherish forever.

Of course, no trip to Marrakech would be complete without a visit to the souks. Today, we ventured into the Souk des Tapis, a dazzling maze of carpets in every color and pattern imaginable. The air was thick with the scent of wool and the sounds of bargaining. My friends and I were on a mission to find the perfect souvenir to remind us of our time here. After much searching and playful haggling, we each found a beautiful rug that spoke to us. The process of negotiating the price was an experience in itself, a dance of offers and counter-offers, all conducted with good humor and respect. I even managed to pick up a small, intricately woven rug for Jasmine, knowing she'd adore the vibrant colors and unique design. I can't wait to give it to her when I get back home.

For lunch, we decided to try Le Douar, a restaurant recommended by several locals. The rooftop setting offered stunning views of the city, and the menu featured traditional Moroccan dishes with a modern twist. We shared a variety of tagines and salads, each bursting with flavor and fresh ingredients. The relaxed atmosphere and delicious food made it the perfect spot to recharge before our final adventure of the day. The restaurant was a little hard to find, but it was well worth the effort. It was a little further away from the centre, but that meant it was not as busy. I think everyone enjoyed the peace and quiet.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to Al Fassia Guéliz for our farewell dinner. This renowned restaurant, staffed entirely by women, is known for its exquisite Moroccan cuisine and elegant ambiance. We indulged in a feast of traditional dishes, savoring every bite and reminiscing about our favorite moments from the trip. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I was so glad we chose this restaurant for our last meal. It was the perfect way to end our trip on a high note. The food was incredible and the staff were so attentive. It was an experience that I will never forget.

To cap off our final night, we headed to BAROMETRE COCKTAILS in Marrakech. Tucked away behind an unassuming door, this speakeasy-style bar was a hidden gem. The creative cocktails and vibrant atmosphere made it the perfect place to celebrate our time in Marrakech. We sipped on expertly crafted drinks, listened to lively music, and laughed as we shared stories and memories. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable trip. I even tried a cocktail with a hint of mint, reminiscent of the sweet mint tea we had enjoyed throughout our stay.

As I sit here now, packing my bags and preparing for our journey back to Toronto, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and contentment. This trip to Marrakech with my friends has been an incredible experience, one that I will cherish for years to come. We have explored ancient ruins, haggled in bustling souks, savored delicious cuisine, and immersed ourselves in a rich and vibrant culture. Marrakech, with its vibrant colors and enchanting atmosphere, has woven its way into our hearts, leaving us with memories we will cherish forever.

While I'm a little sad that our adventure has come to an end, I am also excited to return home and share my experiences with David and Jasmine. I know they will be eager to hear all about our adventures and see the treasures we have brought back with us. And who knows, maybe one day we will all return to Marrakech together to create even more unforgettable memories.

Our flight leaves early tomorrow morning, marking the official end of our Moroccan escapade. It's always bittersweet saying goodbye to a place that has captured your heart, but I know I'm leaving with a piece of Marrakech tucked safely away within me. Until next time, Morocco!
