As a solo traveler, I was eager to lose myself in its ancient streets, discover hidden gems, and savor the authentic Italian experience I had been dreaming of. My first day was a whirlwind of historical exploration and culinary indulgence, setting the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable journey.

My day began bright and early, eager to explore Perugia's historical heart. The first stop was the intriguing Rocca Paolina. This isn't your typical fortress; it's a step back in time, offering a glimpse into Perugia's complex past. Built in the 16th century by Pope Paul III, it was intended to symbolize papal power over the city. What remains today is an underground network of streets and passageways, a literal 'buried city'.
