Today was a day of gentle exploration, a harmonious blend of nature's artistry and human craftsmanship. It’s amazing how much history and beauty can be packed into a single day when you open yourself up to the experience. Leaving behind the rugged trails of the higher altitudes, we sought out the tranquil embrace of waterfalls and the timeless allure of traditional villages.

Our day began, as most good days do, with a hearty breakfast at To Pazari. This charming spot offered a delightful start, fueling us for the adventures that lay ahead. I opted for a traditional Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts, a simple yet satisfying combination that never fails to please. Eleanor chose a savory spinach pie, while Kenji devoured a stack of pancakes with local fruit preserves. With our appetites sated, we set off to discover the hidden gems nestled in the foothills of Mount Olympus.

Our first destination was the enchanting Waterfall Agia Kori. The drive there was a scenic treat, winding through lush landscapes dotted with quaint villages. As we approached the waterfall, the air grew cooler, carrying with it the refreshing mist of cascading water. The path leading to the falls was a gentle descent, lined with vibrant greenery. Arriving in Makrinitsa, we parked the car and began to explore on foot. The village square, Plateia Eirinis, was a bustling hub of activity. Locals and tourists mingled under the shade of ancient plane trees, enjoying the panoramic views. We paused to admire the marble fountain with its lion heads, a testament to the village's rich history. Kenji was fascinated by the fountain, running around it and trying to catch the water as it gushed from the lion's mouths.

We visited the Church of Agios Ioannis Prodromos, a beautiful Byzantine structure with intricate stone reliefs. The church's serene atmosphere provided a moment of quiet contemplation amidst the lively village. Eleanor, who has a keen interest in history, was particularly impressed by the church's architecture and the craftsmanship of its details. We also peeked into the Museum of Folk Art and History of Pelion, housed in the Topali mansion, though we didn't have time for a full visit.

For lunch, we settled at Aiolos Fish Tavern, drawn in by the promise of fresh seafood. The tavern had a cozy, inviting atmosphere, with rustic décor and friendly staff. We ordered a selection of local specialties, including grilled octopus, fried calamari, and a traditional Greek salad. The food was delicious, bursting with fresh flavors that perfectly complemented the stunning views.

Today, it is a preserved settlement, known for its traditional character and stunning views.

As the afternoon waned, we decided to treat ourselves to a drink at Le Moon Luxury Sea Side Beach Bar Restaurant. Although it seemed a bit out of place for our mountain adventure, Eleanor had read great reviews and insisted we give it a try. The bar was indeed luxurious, with stylish décor and a relaxed atmosphere. We sipped on refreshing cocktails, enjoying the sea breeze and the stunning views of the coastline. Kenji, of course, opted for a non-alcoholic smoothie, which he declared was the best he had ever tasted.

We ordered a variety of traditional dishes, including moussaka, souvlaki, and pastitsio. The food was hearty and flavorful, providing a satisfying end to our day of exploration.

As we savored our meal, we reflected on the day's adventures. I am so glad that my family and I have been able to share this together and experience the beauty of Greece.

Tomorrow, we plan to explore Olympus last secret waterfall and Pórtes. I'm particularly excited about discovering another hidden waterfall and experiencing more of the region's natural beauty. We will start our day with breakfast at Veranda Seaside, followed by lunch at Ta Mezedakia and dinner at Sunday's. We also plan to visit Kallntin Handmade, a local shop, to pick up some souvenirs. I anticipate another day filled with adventure and discovery, as we continue to explore the wonders of Mount Olympus.

As I write this, I can't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the experiences we've had today. It's moments like these that make travel so rewarding, allowing us to connect with nature, immerse ourselves in different cultures, and create lasting memories with my loved ones.
