Sunday Serenity in the Blue Pearl
Today was all about soaking in the laid-back vibes of Chefchaouen. After a busy week of exploring, Liam and I, along with our friends, decided to take it easy and enjoy a relaxing Sunday in this beautiful blue city. It was the perfect blend of nature, culture, and delicious food, creating memories I know we'll cherish long after we've left Morocco.
Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Restaurant Ali Baba. The aroma of freshly baked bread and mint tea filled the air as we settled into our cozy corner. I opted for the traditional Moroccan pancakes, while Liam went for the tagine. It was the perfect way to fuel up for a day of exploring. I have to say, their vegan options looked incredible, too; I might have to try them tomorrow! The staff was so friendly, offering tips on what to see and do around town. It's these little interactions that really make a place special, don't you think?

After breakfast, we decided to take a leisurely stroll to Park Sidi Abdelhamid. The sun was shining, and the sky was a brilliant blue, mirroring the city below. The park was a welcome escape from the bustling medina, a tranquil oasis of green where we could unwind and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. I found a quiet bench overlooking the city and spent some time journaling, reflecting on our adventures so far. Liam, ever the adventurer, took off to explore the park's hidden corners, camera in hand. He's always got an eye for the perfect shot, capturing the essence of a place in a single frame.

In the heart of Chefchaouen, even the simplest moments become extraordinary, painted with the colors of culture and tranquility.
Next on our list was Feddan Park, another green space in Chefchaouen that promised stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere. It was a bit of a walk from Sidi Abdelhamid, but the scenery along the way was worth it. We passed through narrow, winding streets, each one more picturesque than the last. The vibrant blue buildings, adorned with colorful flowerpots and intricate doorways, were a feast for the eyes. We even stumbled upon a local market, where vendors were selling everything from fresh produce to handmade crafts. It was a sensory overload in the best possible way!

Feddan Park itself was lovely, with well-maintained pathways and plenty of shady spots to relax. We found a perfect picnic spot under a sprawling olive tree and enjoyed a simple lunch of bread, cheese, and olives. It was the perfect way to recharge before our next adventure.
Of course, no trip to Chefchaouen would be complete without a bit of souvenir shopping. So, after our picnic, we made our way to Hibart Souvenirs Shop, a treasure trove of Moroccan craftsmanship. The shop was filled with unique handmade treasures, from intricate ceramics to colorful textiles. I picked up a beautiful hand-painted bowl for my mom and a leather journal for myself. Liam, on the other hand, couldn't resist a traditional Moroccan djellaba. He's already planning to wear it to our next Halloween party!

As the day drew to a close, we found ourselves craving something savory and satisfying. We chose Mounir Food for lunch, and it was a great choice! The restaurant was bustling with locals and tourists, all eager to sample the delicious Moroccan cuisine. I opted for the tagine, while Liam went for the couscous. Both dishes were bursting with flavor, a testament to the fresh, local ingredients used. I’m definitely going back before we leave!

Our final stop of the day was Sofia for dinner. It was the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the blue city. The restaurant had a cozy, romantic ambiance, with soft lighting and traditional Moroccan décor. I ordered the lamb tagine, while Liam went for the grilled fish. The food was delicious, but the real highlight was the view. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the city was bathed in a warm, golden light, creating a magical scene that I'll never forget.

Tomorrow, we are planning to venture a bit further afield and explore the Jebel Bouhachem Nature Reserve. I've heard it's a beautiful area with stunning hiking trails and breathtaking views. We are planning on having breakfast at Chez Foad, lunch at Restaurant Morisco, and dinner at Restaurant Dar El Salam. We might also stop by Café Mundial for a drink.
As I sit here now, writing in my travel journal, I can't help but feel grateful for this incredible experience. Chefchaouen has a way of slowing you down, of making you appreciate the simple things in life. It's a place where you can wander aimlessly through the streets, soak in the vibrant culture, and connect with the locals. And it's a place that I know I'll carry with me long after I've left.
I am so glad that we decided to extend our trip and spend more time here. It is so interesting to experience a culture so different from Canada. I am also grateful that Liam is here with me to share this experience. I know that we will both remember this trip for the rest of our lives.
I'm also really glad that I remembered to pack my camera. I've been taking so many photos, and I can't wait to share them with everyone back home. I'm sure they'll be just as captivated by Chefchaouen as I am.
I am also thinking of my sustainable travel practices. I have been using my reusable water bottle, and I have been trying to avoid using plastic bags. I am also trying to support local businesses as much as possible.
It's the kind of Sunday that reminds you why you travel in the first place: to discover new places, meet new people, and create memories that will last a lifetime. And as I drift off to sleep tonight, I can't help but smile, knowing that tomorrow will bring even more adventures in this magical blue city.
One thing I forgot to pack was my travel adapter, so I was not able to charge my phone or camera at times. Luckily Liam had an adapter, and we were able to share.
I am already looking forward to planning our next trip. I am thinking of going to Southeast Asia, or maybe South America. There are so many places to see in the world, and I want to see them all!
I am also thinking of starting a new project when I get home. I want to create a series of graphic designs inspired by my travels. I think it would be a great way to share my experiences with others, and it would also be a fun way to express my creativity.
I am so grateful for this opportunity to travel the world. It is something that I have always dreamed of doing, and I am so glad that I am finally able to make it happen.
I am also grateful for all of you, my readers. Thank you for following along on my adventures. It means the world to me.
Goodnight from Chefchaouen!
