Solo Hiking Adventure to Hoverla Mountain
Day 7: Farewell to Hoverla: A Day of Waterfalls, Mountain Views, and Culinary Delights
Concluding my solo hiking adventure with serene waterfalls, stunning mountain vistas, and delightful Ukrainian cuisine in the Carpathians.
A Final Day of Carpathian Wonders
As my solo hiking adventure in the Ukrainian Carpathians draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible experiences of the past week. Today, my final day, was a perfect blend of natural beauty and local charm, leaving me with memories I will cherish for years to come. It was a day to soak in the last moments of this beautiful landscape before heading back to Leipzig.
My day began with a hearty breakfast at Filvarok #5 (upper station of ski lift #5), situated at the upper station of ski lift #5. The panoramic views of the Carpathian Mountains were simply breathtaking, providing a stunning backdrop as I enjoyed traditional Ukrainian dishes. The crisp mountain air and the warmth of the restaurant created a cozy atmosphere, making it a perfect start to the day. I savored every bite, knowing this would be my last taste of the local cuisine for a while. It reminded me of the dishes my grandmother used to make back in Khmelnytskyi, filling me with a sense of nostalgia and warmth. It's amazing how food can connect you to your roots, no matter where you are in the world.

After breakfast, I set out to explore Vodospad Bahrovets’ Malyy, a hidden gem in the Yaremche area. The trail leading to the waterfall was picturesque, winding through lush landscapes and dense forests. The sound of rushing water grew louder as I approached, and soon I was greeted by the sight of the cascading waterfall. The crystal-clear waters plunged into a serene basin, creating a tranquil ambiance that was perfect for relaxation and reflection. I spent some time simply sitting by the water, listening to the soothing sounds and appreciating the natural beauty around me. It was a peaceful moment, a perfect way to reconnect with nature and find some inner calm. The waterfall wasn't very big, but its beauty was enchanting. I took some photos to remember the place.

Sometimes, the most profound experiences are found in the quiet corners of the world, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Next on my itinerary was Hutyn Tomnatyk, a peak in the Chornohora region. The hike to Hutyn Tomnatyk was invigorating, with trails winding through verdant forests and alongside serene lakes. The diverse flora and fauna made it a haven for wildlife observation, and I was lucky enough to spot several interesting bird species along the way. As I ascended, the views became increasingly stunning, offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Reaching the summit, I was rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of the Carpathian landscape. The fresh mountain air and the sense of accomplishment made the hike all the more worthwhile. I paused to take it all in, feeling grateful for the opportunity to experience such natural beauty. The name Hutyn Tomnatyk comes from the Romanian word tomnatic, meaning autumnal. It's a stark reminder that the mountain was once used for grazing livestock during the autumn.

For lunch, I stopped at Koliba RA, a restaurant known for its traditional Ukrainian cuisine and warm hospitality. The rustic decor and lively atmosphere made it a welcoming place to enjoy a hearty meal. I savored the grilled specialties and classic favorites, all made with local ingredients. The flavors were rich and authentic, providing a true taste of Ukrainian culinary heritage. The restaurant was cozy, and the staff was friendly. It felt like stepping back in time, experiencing the traditions and flavors of my homeland. It reminded me of the family gatherings we used to have in Khmelnytskyi, filled with laughter, good food, and a sense of togetherness. I even enjoyed some live music, which added to the overall charm of the experience.

In the late afternoon, I made a stop at Zustrich, a local shop. I was hoping to find a small souvenir to remind me of my trip. The shop offered a variety of local crafts and goods, and I spent some time browsing through the selection. I ended up purchasing a beautifully embroidered scarf, a perfect reminder of my time in Ukraine. I also picked up a few small gifts for Hans and Olena, wanting to share a piece of my adventure with them. I know Olena will appreciate the traditional Ukrainian design of the scarf, a nod to her heritage. I remember when she got the tattoo of a sunflower on her left wrist, a symbol of her Ukrainian heritage.

I opted for a traditional Ukrainian dish, wanting to savor the flavors of my homeland one last time. The meal was delicious, a perfect ending to a day filled with culinary delights. The restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect place to reflect on my journey.
