The morning began with a hearty breakfast at Restaurant Baghdad & Cooking Class. Although I didn't partake in the cooking class this time, the traditional Moroccan breakfast set the stage for an active day. The restaurant was cozy, and the staff incredibly welcoming, offering a variety of local delicacies. I opted for a classic Moroccan pancake with honey, accompanied by fresh mint tea – a delightful way to start the day. I made sure to fuel up well, because I knew I'd need the energy!

After breakfast, I headed straight to Plage d'Essaouira. The beach was alive with activity, a mix of locals and tourists enjoying the February sunshine. The wind was up, as it often is in Essaouira, making it a haven for windsurfers and kitesurfers. While simply relaxing on the beach was tempting, I was eager to try my hand at something more adventurous. I've always been fascinated by kitesurfing, so I decided to take a lesson at Explora Watersports. My friends decided to join me, despite their initial hesitations. They were soon thanking me for the suggestion.

Explora Watersports: Kitesurf, Surfing and Wing foil Centre Essaouira Morocco was an excellent choice. The instructors were patient and knowledgeable, providing a comprehensive introduction to the sport. The wind was strong enough to provide a good challenge, but not so overwhelming as to be discouraging. After a brief land lesson, we took to the water. I must admit, getting the hang of controlling the kite took some time, and I spent a fair amount of time tumbling into the waves. But with each attempt, I felt myself improving, and the feeling of finally gliding across the water, propelled by the wind, was exhilarating. My friends were having similar experiences – a mix of frustration and excitement, but ultimately, a shared sense of accomplishment. Maybe I'll even take up urban kitesurfing back in Hamburg!

After a few hours of battling the waves, we were all thoroughly exhausted and ravenously hungry. We started with a selection of Moroccan salads, bursting with fresh flavors and vibrant colors. For the main course, I opted for a tagine with chicken, preserved lemon, and olives – a classic Moroccan dish that never fails to impress. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the combination of sweet and savory was simply divine. My friends chose a seafood dish, which they raved about. The service was impeccable, and the overall experience was delightful. It was the perfect way to refuel after our morning adventure.

In the late afternoon, we returned to Plage d'Essaouira for a more relaxed experience. We took a leisurely walk along the shore, enjoying the cool breeze and the stunning views. The beach was still bustling with activity, but the atmosphere was more mellow. We watched as the sun began to dip towards the horizon, casting a golden glow over the landscape. I took the opportunity to practice some wildlife photography, capturing the seagulls soaring overhead and the waves crashing against the shore. I even managed to snap a few decent shots, which I'm excited to share on my blog.

As evening approached, we decided to indulge in some local nightlife. We ventured to Le Love by Caravane, a bar known for its eclectic decor and vibrant atmosphere. The bar was buzzing with energy, a mix of locals and tourists enjoying the music and the drinks. I ordered a local beer, while my friends opted for cocktails. The music was a mix of traditional Moroccan tunes and modern beats, creating a unique and captivating vibe. The atmosphere was lively and friendly, and we spent a few hours chatting with fellow travelers and soaking in the local culture.

For dinner, we chose Chez Les Frères, a restaurant recommended for its authentic Moroccan cuisine. The restaurant was tucked away in a quiet corner of the medina, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere. We started with a selection of mezze, including hummus, baba ghanoush, and falafel – all delicious and flavorful. For the main course, I decided to try the local fish, grilled to perfection and served with a side of couscous. The fish was incredibly fresh and flavorful, a testament to Essaouira's coastal location. My friends opted for a tagine and a couscous dish, both of which they thoroughly enjoyed. The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience was excellent. It was the perfect way to end a day of coastal delights.

As I reflect on the day, I'm filled with a sense of gratitude and contentment. Essaouira has exceeded all my expectations, offering a unique blend of adventure, culture, and relaxation. From the thrill of kitesurfing to the flavors of local cuisine, it's been a day of sensory delights. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow, when we plan to explore more of Essaouira's hidden gems. Tomorrow, we're planning to visit Lou's Rides for some quad biking and then wander through Place Moulay Hassan. I'm also keen to check out the local shops, starting with Histoire de Filles, and sample more of the local cuisine at The Hungry Nomad Rooftop Essaouira for breakfast, Azouka Eatery for lunch, and La Table by Madada for dinner. It's going to be another day filled with exploration and discovery, and I can't wait to share it with you all.
