    From Cullman, take US-278 West towards Bethel. Turn onto County Road 1043 and continue for approximately 2 miles; the park entrance will be on your left. Parking is available at the park's entrance. There are no tolls or mandatory access fees.

Clarkson Covered Bridge, also known as Legg Bridge, is a treasured historical site located in Cullman County, Alabama. Constructed in 1904, the bridge provided a vital transportation link for farmers and residents crossing Crooked Creek. James W. Legg, a local mail carrier, owned the property and contributed significantly to the bridge's construction, which was originally named after him.The bridge's design features a Town lattice truss system, known for its strength and durability. In 1921, a flood damaged the bridge, but it was rebuilt the following year. The bridge served motor traffic until 1962 when a concrete bridge was built nearby. In 1975, as part of the American Bicentennial Project, the Cullman County Commission restored the bridge and created Clarkson Covered Bridge Park.Today, the park offers walking trails, picnic areas, a Dogtrot log cabin, and a working grist mill, providing a glimpse into the past. Visitors can explore the bridge, learn about its history, and enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. The park is a popular venue for weddings, car shows, and other events.
