Getting There

  • Driving

    From central Dauphin Island, follow Bienville Boulevard (AL-193) east. Fort Gaines is located at the very end of the road on the eastern tip of the island. Parking is available near the fort entrance, with fees of $10 per day during peak season (April 1 - Labor Day) and $5 per day during the off-season. The fee is applicable from 8 AM to 7 PM daily. There is no charge for those walking or biking in.

  • Ferry

    The Mobile Bay Ferry connects Dauphin Island to Fort Morgan. From Fort Morgan, take the ferry to Dauphin Island. Once on Dauphin Island, follow Bienville Boulevard (AL-193) east to Fort Gaines. The ferry cost is $16 for a car and driver, plus $4.50 for each additional passenger. Adults without cars are $5 each. The ferry ride is approximately 40 minutes.

  • Ride Share

    Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are available on Dauphin Island. Request a ride to Fort Gaines at 51 Bienville Blvd, Dauphin Island. Fares vary depending on demand and distance, but expect to pay around $15-$25 for a ride from the western end of Dauphin Island.
