The Mobile Museum of Art, established in 1963, has evolved into the only accredited art museum in South Alabama. Housed in an 86,444 square-foot facility within Langan Park, the museum's permanent collection features over 6,400 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and works on paper. The museum's collections include the Mary and Charles Rodning Gallery of Asian Art, showcasing ancient Chinese bronzes and ceramics, and early 20th-century pieces. The Katharine C. Cochrane Gallery of American Art features furniture, sculpture, and paintings primarily from 1770 onwards. The Maisel Gallery of European Art offers a broad overview of European paintings, prints, sculpture, and decorative arts. MMofA hosts a variety of special exhibitions throughout the year, showcasing regional, national, and international artists. The museum also offers multi-disciplinary programs, including film, poetry, dance, and studio art classes for all ages.
