    Fendall Hall, also known as the Young-Dent Home, stands as a testament to Eufaula's prosperous past as a cotton-shipping hub on the Chattahoochee River. Completed in 1860 for Edward Young, a successful merchant and entrepreneur, this Italianate-style home reflects the elegance and grandeur of the antebellum South.The two-story wood-frame structure boasts a symmetrical design, a crowning cupola, and a wide veranda, all characteristic of Italianate architecture. Inside, visitors are captivated by the rare and elaborate interior decorative paintings dating back to the 1880s. These colorful murals, created by D.F. Liefrank, adorn the entrance hall, parlor, and dining room, depicting flowers, cherubs, birds, and fruit. The house also features family and period furnishings, marble mantles, and a black and white Italian marble tiled entry.Fendall Hall remained in the Young family for five generations until it was purchased by the Alabama Historical Commission in 1973. It has since been meticulously restored to reflect the period between 1880 and 1916, offering visitors a glimpse into the lives of the Young family and the changing times. The five-acre site includes gardens with camellias, azaleas and trees, including 100-year-old oak, pecan and red cedar trees. Today, Fendall Hall stands as a historic house museum, showcasing the quintessential elements of a Southern suburban mansion.
