The grounds included a latticed pavilion over the main spring, bathhouses, and croquet courts. Bladon Springs earned the nickname the 'Saratoga of the South'.As the popularity of mineral springs declined in the early 20th century, the resort fell into disrepair and eventually closed. In 1934, the State of Alabama purchased the property and converted it into a state park, preserving its historical significance and natural beauty. Although the grand hotel was destroyed by fire in 1938, the park still retains remnants of its past, including the mineral springs themselves and informational signs detailing the area's fascinating history.Today, visitors can explore the four mineral springs that gave the area its fame.
